Greetings to All!

From the feedback I received from last year's calendar I am guessing that everyone was satisfied with the end result and after consulting with a few members I have decided to give it another go.

If there are enough "likes" or responses that are wanting a 2018 calendar I will start the nomination thread on August 1st.

This is an interest thread so if you are good with me proceeding please let me know and I will get to work!!!
  • Calendar will feature 11 new entries and 1 entry for the HOF (sets in previous calendars will not be voted on)
  • Calendar entries will be nominated and voted in by members of PCF with posts over 250 and purchasing a calendar
  • Only physical sets will be voted on. (Sorry but if your set is still in production there's always next year)
  • Any type of chipset is eligible. It is not limited to custom chips. Group buy sets, casino sets etc are all eligible
  • Calendar will be made through Shutterfly
  • Wall Calendar and Desk calendar will be designed
  • Only new entries will be included into the calendar.
  • Nominations will start August 1st and run through August 31st
  • Voting on the nominated sets will begin on or around September 1st and conclude on September 30th
  • Calendar will be created during October
  • Finished calendar should be available for ordering and purchase on or before November 1st

Thanks,
David O

I'm in.

One change I'd like to ask for -- can you make the actual date figures higher contrast to the background? The 2017 calendar has white text on a grey background, and in a shadow from a few feet away (i.e. hanging on the wall) the dates are basically invisible.

Thanks!

Is this the @Ray-Col rule?? :D

Anyway - I'm in! (y)

Thanks for spearheading this, David!

Just to clarify, are non-custom sets (casino, fantasy, etc) really allowed to be nominated? I've only been a part of this process once, and while I believe non-custom sets were permitted, it appeared to me that there was almost an unspoken rule that only custom sets are considered (at least in more recent calendars). I could be completely off-base with that observation, and if so, I apologize.

This isn't a knock at all against custom sets. Folks here have way more creativity than I'll ever have in designing customs. However, I'm a collector at heart and would like to ensure that non-custom sets get their fair shake, as there is some great history in these chips.

Another thought I had was 2 calendars, one for customs and one for all other, or perhaps 2 per month on the same calendar. I'm not familiar with the work involved, so I'm just spitting out ideas.

Come on mod, read the OP :p

I clarified with my "really" ;).

I know they are allowed, but would anything other than customs have a chance at making the calendar? I remember asking a seasoned PCF member if non-customs would make the cut in recent years (I know they had in the past) and the response I received was something like "probably not - maybe if they made another calendar "

If the issue is that all the epic non-custom sets have made it into the calendar years ago, then that's cool. Just wanted to mention.
