Paulson Hat and canes , up until the mid / late 70's, as well as C & J before them, were all made by the Burt Co equipment and formula ( now CPC)..Extremely dumb question:
This is Paulson THC, right?
I am sure you are correct - i own a fair share of paulsons but wouldnt most collectors juat refer to the mold of the chip as a paulson hat and cane or reverse bat and can? I have never heard of Burt but i normally hear of all of these chips newer and unleaded or older and leaded as thc or reverse thc but never as a c&j or a burt. I know cpc as classic poker chips but i juat never hear any top hat and cane indentation referred to the way you are referring to them here. Just wondering myself - im admittedly not great on the history and trying to educate myself more all the time…..i just never aee people referring to the chips the way you are suggesting here.Paulson Hat and canes , up until the mid / late 70's, as well as C & J before them, were all made by the Burt Co equipment and formula ( now CPC)..
As far as I'm aware, there's no way to tell a difference from when Paulson took over the C & J "CPC" shiny hat & cane chips, so all are generally referred to as ' C&J, and all are Burt (CPC) produced, even if some were actually made when Paulson took over C& J..

Thank you for this info - i like to learn more all the time - also for clarification (i knew you understood it technically my only point was that - at least i thought maybe incorrectly- that most average joe collectors would not KNOW the chips technically in the way you do). Not that some wouldn't but overall. Anyway im probably wrong there too. Thanks for passing on the extra info and i will enjoy looking into this more. Most collectors would refer to these as Christy and Jones. If you search Christy and Jones, you will find pages and pages referencing C&J chips. Definitely a difference between your normal THC mold and C&J. Everything from actual mold, size, feel and color. Though, most people could put a C&J chip into a line up and probably couldn’t tell the difference in sight.
Here is a reference to a nice discussion a few years ago and a pdf on history of C&J
