$20 chip color (1 Viewer)

Holy cow... Those are great reproductions. I thought they were real for a sec.
@Gear did a great job. The only real tell on the inlay is that “Las Vegas, NV” has been replaced by “Poker Room”.

Reproductions vs Originals

I’m almost done with cleaning and oiling some $1s and $5s. Hoping to have the set hit the felt Labor Day Weekend. Proper showcase pics to come!

The “$20 chips make sense because people carry $20 bills” argument has never made any sense to me.
I use $20s because when I got into chipping I fell in love with this particular chip AND because I thought $20 chips were just cooler than the standard $25 chip. Years later I’m convinced that $20 chips have no practical advantage over $25s and since they confuse some players who are used to $25s, I probably wouldn’t buy them again. But I still love the ones I have.

I'd use any color you like and which look good with the other denomination chips you use. If you assume a $20 chip is a non-standard casino chip (and I have no idea if that is true or not in poker rooms), then why do you have to avoid casino chip colors that are typically linked to other denominations? I'm not sure I understand your groups reasoning on needing a $20 chip. My group plays $10-$20 limit, but we don't use a $20 chip. We use $5, $10 and $25 denominated chips.
I’m not sure I understand my groups reasoning

I wouldn’t try too hard either. But I am a man of the people.

I played both sides in my set. The upside to twenties to me is that it makes a better color up chip in games where the single is the workhorse denomination, (For me that's all limit games 4/8 or under and no limit games with a 50¢ BB or lower.)

But for me that has way more to do with chip for chip changes, taking advantage of the fact chips are kepts in barrels of 20. I have never been compelled by the no 25 dollar bill argument.

The whole reason for using chips instead of money is so we always have plenty of small denominations.

(That said, I have fond memories of a quarter ante $15 spread game we played in college and use real money. Hands totally smelled like quarters after four hours of play.)

Aren’t $20s mainly used in limit games?

I think 20s make sense not only in limit games but any game in which the workhorse denomination is the single. (I am kind of repeating what I put in post #68.) I think they are more useful in chip-for-chip swaps since players tend to stack in twenties. (And why 100s are such a natural color up chips for your games where the fives act as the "workhorse.")

But I did also point out in post #53 that Bellagio appears to use twenties as a workhorse in higher NL games, which I think will come as a surprise to some PCFers.

You give the $20 to whomever is buying in and they'll make change as they see fit. Someone will graciously offer to color-up.
Exactly this. Players at our game often rebuy for either $60 or $80. If there are already enough of the other denoms on the table I'd rather just give them 3-4 $20 chips and let them get change at the table. What I really need are more excuses to get the $100 chips on the table

I say yellow: this is my favourite 20$ chip, I regret not taking a single when I visited the Sugar House back in 2015

otherwise, something more different: I love this pink 20 euro chip in play in Slovenian casinos, the pink it's more vibrant and the pic does not give justice to it

for micro stakes and mini stakes games. The 20 is good to have 1 barrel just for reloads.. Especially if you are having to bring the chips to some other place. the less i have to carry the better
