They can request oversized chips from the NGC. It’s not really a hard requirement.Yes, a good read; I would have liked to have some sources cited in a few places. Somr claims seemed iffy.
Also, how do those Vegas size regulations pertain to oversized chips?
5. Chips are made from sand, chalk and clay, similar to the materials used in kitty litter.
Yeah, shows that the author has zero clue how RFID works. Some of the other statements were equally laughableAlso, lol at the idea of a casino "turning off" RFID, or that RFID had anything to do with the Bellagio heist.
Right , THE BIKER BANDITSo about that Bellagio heist...
Back in 2010 a guy wearing a motorcycle helmet and carrying a gun grabbed a bunch of chips off the craps table and ran out of the casino with $1.5 million in chips, a lot of them high-value ($25,000). The casino immediately revoked the high-value chips and deployed the secondary set, making them instantly worthless.

The cancelled 25Ks could still be redeemed by casino patrons, but since the casino knows all the high-rollers personally, anyone walking in trying to cash a 25k will be subjected to rather intense scrutiny i.e. there's no way the gunman could cash them himself.
Interestingly, though, his haul included a lot of lower value chips ($5,000 and below) which were not cancelled and which could still be spent without raising any red flags. He ended up with about $400,000 in useable funds and was able to spend those chips at the casino tables with no problems at all. He pissed away that entire half-million stash in six weeks of gambling, drugs, and hookers, and then got caught when he tried to convert the 25k chips into cash by trading them on internet forums I shit you not.
There are some big-time losers in Vegas but this guy has to be the biggest loser they've ever seen.

Unless you’re George ClooneyThanks for linking to the Rolling Stone article, it was a fun read.
I think the kind of guy who pulls off a robbery like the one at the Bellagio is generally not capable of making good decisions... How things ended up is not a surprise...
They are plenty of plaques in Vegas" 4. Gaming regulations also specify chips must be “disk-shaped.” "
Are there any plaques in Vegas?
everyone thinks they're george fucking clooneyUnless you’re George Clooney
Although some components of compression-molded chips do include materials related to chalk and other silicates. And, of course, regarding number five:
Never forget that poker chips are made from plastic, plastic, and plastic, no matter how many times people say the word "clay".
