I'm going to take this opportunity to thank you all for giving me this place. I was unaware this forum existed and now I basically live here. The general camaraderie and generosity has been incredible. This is a special place with lots of good people. It's for that reason I'm participating in the 12 days of PCF and giving away some random stuff.

1. A poker book I've never read. It's from 2002 I think so super relevant and will help you win a WSOP bracelet
2. Shoulder/back posture straps (new) to help you all with your horrible posture. Yeah you, I'm talking to you (sit up straight and take a deep breath for goodness sakes!)
3. Some random poker chips I've been given for free that are also nifty.
4. A wine combo opener thingy. It might help you one day. It even has a magnifying glass to help you examine your poker chips or even start a fire
5. A surprise that I haven't decided yet and probably won't until I pack this up and mail it. I'll make sure it's a good prize though.

In order to qualify to win all this sweet shwag all you need to do is go outside and look up at the stars/sky for 5 minutes and contemplate the vastness of the cosmos and our insignificant but special place in the universe.
*honor system*

If you say you did but didn't then you will have bad chipping karma for a month.

{9 randomized players will be chosen to play two face up holdem hands, and the winner of those games will play a face up heads up match for the win}

And don’t forget:

Indeed, every time I look up for a longer time I remember how insignificant we are, and how ridiculous we are trying to insist on the contrary.

Thanks, awesome intro & giveaway!

In please!
I will share, for general wisdom, because I only realised it in recent years, that the stars we see at night all seems to "turn around" the Pole star (Alpha Ursae Minoris), thus being for us a reference point to the north.
Well that is only true for us in the north hemisphere, as people living south of the Equator cannot all see this star. Thus the need for them to have another Pole star (Sigma Octantis or Beta Hydri which is easier to find) pointing, obviously, south.
That simple fact now tends to remind me, every time I look at the star, that we don't have all the same point of view.
Class over. Sorry. Thank you.

In. My wife and I sat in the car for an hour last night waiting for her "rapid" covid test to come back. She is two for two with negative tests "YEAH".

I'll count sitting in the car contemplating life, liberty, and all that jazz!

Thanks (BTW I plan on shipping your prize today).

I'm in.
Growing up in the country provided nightly star-gazing as you could see them from horizon to horizon. Surburban living is just not the same...too many other lights block the great views that are out there.

In! And I"ll be honest, I didn't do it today yet because it's raining. But I literally do this almost every night. My wife and I take a short walk at night and pick out the stars we know, try to find different planets in the sky, speculate on whether the moon is waxing or waning... Helps keep everything in perspective!

Thanks!

I'm in. Thanks for running this!!

When my wife and I sit in our hot tub at night, we always admire the stars (when its not cloudy out of course!!) and sometimes, we are fortunate to see a shooting star!!

There’s several astronomy apps that really help with this identification. Tell you where the ISS is, other night sky stuff.

I use Star Walk 2. But at this point, we don't really need the app anymore! Living in the suburbs, we can only see the really bright ones, and by now we can usually identify them ourselves.

But I do have notifications set for ISS. A few years ago, we caught it right as it crossed the horizon, and were able to watch it blaze all the way across our sky!

Last night we went to a light show as a family and all I could think about is how much bigger life is than just going to work everyday or focusing on myself. That there is something bigger going on and a grand story is being told. It really is the story of Christmas. That we were loved before the world was made, that we are rescued from darkness and loved even now.

Does anyone else look up at the stars and think, “I’d bet aliens have some freakin’ sweet poker chips. I need to figure out how to get some of them before they stop selling to the home market.”?

Also in.

Yeah visiting friends in New Orleans and glazing up in the sky with relationship problem venting in the background lol. Yeah we are very minute piece of the universe. Poker room is not open :cautious:
