Hi all,

Time for our second 'major.'

It's a 10 man tournament for a bracelet. We are looking at one rebuy. I have enough high denom chips to do rebuys so that we can make change at the table, so I'm looking to avoid sacrificing stacks in order to have pretty rebuy stacks. I'm using my cash game chips, they are listed below. What do we think would be the best break down for a starting stack? I have suggested my thoughts below:

What I have available
(essentially what I have in my avatar/profile pic)
25c - 80 chips
50c - 40 chips (useful for early blinds so would prefer to get them into play)
$1 - 200 chips
$5 - 100 chips
$25 -100 chips
$100 - 20 chips
(Also have $2 x 60 & $3 x 20, but already feels wierd having just 4 x 50c, but they are too useful not to use; it might be a bit daft having just a couple of chips here or there for random denoms, although I understand 5/6 $2 could be useful.)

My preferred starting stack (but not sure if it will play well)
25c - 8 chips ($2)
50c - 4chips ($2)
$1 - 11 chips ($11) ($15 dollars worth of low denoms total)
$5 - 7 chips ($25) ($50 dollars total)
$25 - 4 chips ($100) ($150 dollars total)
$100 - 2 chips ($200) ($250 dollars total)

I understand the jump between 25 and 100 isn't ideal, and that $250 total isn't ideal. But I want to get some of the $25 and $100's in play, as they are the nicest chips we have. Would the above set up work is starting with 50c / $1 blinds (250 BB, we quite like starting deep stacks.)

I my original thoughts was the same as above but with just 2 $25/s and 1 $100, for a clean $200. But I think that would struggle to break $100's. The main issue is I want to get as many the $25's and $100's in play, whilst still being able to break chips.

I also have 60 $2 chips which would obviously be useful, but they are similar in colour (albiet you can tell the difference quite clearly)

What do you guys think? It would be great to get as many 5's 25's 100's in play, but primarily the state of the game comes first. I'm quite savvy with organising the blinds to work for whatever set up, but want to ensure the jumps arn't too wild and we have the right amount starting for each chip.

Appreciate your help in advance.

I don’t like doing tournies with cash denoms but here goes. Not counting the frac chips (why bother with them?) you have 5200 in bank.
I would do T200 starting stacks and T200 rebuys and start with blinds at 1/1 or 1/2 depending on how many blinds you prefer starting with.

Starting stacks:

1 x 20
5 x 16
25 x 4

Rebuys done with 4 x 25 and 1 x 100. Color-ups done using 25s and 100s. Maybe one can even do T250 somehow as that would leave 200 of bank to color up all T1s. Would require extensive change making before coloring up though.

Thanks for getting back, I appreciate the input. The only issue with this is I only have 1 rack of $5's. So the maximum each player can have is 10 $5's. How would you amend in light of that?

I would do 8/0/18/6/6 for a stack of 200. You have 40 5s, 40 25s, and 20 100s left.

You can give five rebuys with 5x 5 / 7x 25, five rebuys with 2x 100 if you need them. You have 15 5s, 5 25s, and 10 100s left.

You can color up the .25 (20) and 1 (180) with the remaining 5 and 25. You can even color up the 5 (500) with the remaining 100 if you want to but I don't think you'll need to.

You can start blinds at .25/.50 or .50/1.

Or switch the 8 quarters for 4 0.50s and start blinds at .50/1. Everything else is the same.

I would not mix $2 or $3 in at all, and I would not use .25 and .50 simultaneously.

You can also rearrange the color up/rebuy distribution a little to get some 100s in faster if you want, like maybe doing 5/3/1 then 0/4/1, but too many too soon and it might be a problem breaking them with the chips in play since each one is like half a starting stack.
