1/2, 1/3 chip breakdown (1 Viewer)

My gut tell me-

You definitely don’t need the NO DENOM

You likely don’t need the $1,000 or the $500, but I suppose if you wanna do a tourney now and then it could work.

Are you only going to host one table?

I’d get more $1’s. At 100 total each player would only get 10 if you have 10 players. With multiple tables you’ll run out pretty much immediately.

1000pc set is nice for the collection and pics, but too much chips for a single table game.

Or you want
- to cover micro stacks and high roller for different occasions.
- a limit set.

600-700 is way enough to cover multiple blinds. And you know you‘re gonna play 1/2 or 1/3.

Calculate your bank needs, then double or triple it. You may find you don't need 1000 chips, and 600-800 would more than satisfy your single table. Concentrate on your $5 and $25. I doubt you will need more than 100-150 $1s. Will you really need $1000 chips if you have a barrel or two of $500?

My biggest 1/2 (and 5/5, 5/10) has 920 chips:
200 x $1
400 x $5
200 x $25
100 x $100
20 x $1000

Depending on how big your game actually plays, get 100 more of whatever denom. (And change the 1ks for 500s, which will probably be more than enough for 1/3 anyways).

That said, honestly you don't really need 1000 chips for a single table of 1/2, 1/3.

Will this cover the bank you need on your biggest night?

200 $1s only to cover the 1/3 blinds. You could get away with less for 1/2.
Other way around. In 1/3, $1s are only used on the first betting street so you can get away with 100 or less. Some 1/2 players like to use $1s on the second betting street, so you'll need more $1s.

My Cleveland Horseshoe 1000 chip breakdown:
300x$1
500x$5
100x$25
60x$100
40x$500
total bank: $31,300
...and I've never come anywhere close to using them...but I also have 10x$1000 and 1x$5000.

+1, I have same experience as well. 1 rack of $1 is more than enough for 1/3 since they mostly open the pot with $10 (using 2 x $5) and $15 late into the night when everyone is playing deeper

For 1/2 i perfer

$1 x 200
$5 x 300
$25 x 100
$100 x 100

For 1/3 i perfer

$1 x 100
$5 x 300
$25 x 200
$100 x 100

Optional straddle means minbet will be $4. Many of us like to offer max buyin at 200 BBs, especially if a straddle will effectively cut that in half. So if you've got 9 players buying in for $400, thats $3600. Fine as long as not everyone rebuys. $1/2 is a good sized home game, I'd make sure I fill out another barrel of $25s and $100s to cover bigger nights if/when your game grows as many do.

Good luck, beautiful chips.

Hello,

I'm looking for a cash game set mostly for $1/$2, or $1/$3.

I was thinking of getting a 1,000 chip set with

No Denom x 50 (thinking possible of $2 chip)
$1 x 100
$5 x 450
$25 x 200
$100 x 100
$500 x 50
$1,000 x 50

What do you guys think of this chip breakdown?

Like others have said if this is just for a cash game your bank is likely too large for typical stakes. I Suggest dropping the 1k entirely, ordering 1 roll of $500 instead of two and not ordering any non denominational chips.
150x1
500x5
200x25
100x100
25x500
=975
*then up to you, do you need $12,500 more in chip bank then order another roll of $500's. Otherwise pick any other roll of 25chips that fits.

But,
You really only need 875 chips to cover all of your needs...
Will you ever anticipate needing a fractional chip? If available in your set many 1k chip birdcages can hold 1200 and a top chip lid....also many aluminum 1k chip cases can actually hold 1100. Depending on what case you anticipate to use and its "real" capacity. You may wish to order btw 75-150x 0.25's or/and up to 50-100x 0.50's if available in your set. This will allow you to play blackjack and potential different stakes games. If you are limited to only 1k chips you could cut back on $5's
Example with both fractional minimums
75x 0.25
50x 0.50. (125 chip flex)
150x 1
400x 5
200x 25
100x 100
25x. 500
1000 chips, the main point of my example is that you maintain 875 chips 1 through 500 value with a variable of how you want to allot the other 125 chips....the 875 chips will get the job done, the rest are spares...gravy....extra....
