How many people max do you personally prefer for a single table, regardless of it being cash or tourney, Live or online, NLHE, PLO, etc.?

I like having at least 8 people for a live single table game. Should be enough to have plenty of action with regardless of game variation. I like 9, too, if at least just to have one more friend being able to join in. But think 8 is the sweet spot., and the most comfortable amount you can fit at a table without feeling uncomfortably cramped between players.

I prefer 8 people a table generally. But for mixed games 6 or 7 can be even better.

A good ole fashion six max is cool too, except when you have to play down to a final table of 6, 3 on one table and 4 on another is pretty short.

Agree about the limit game uhhhh limit haha. 7 max if you play games like SOHE

9 - too many (worst)
8 - good
7 - perfect (SOHE is 7 player max)*
6 - good
5 - okay

Depends on the game.

Fixed Limit Dealers Choice--- 6 players

HOPES------10 players

Dealers Choice NL/PL ----7 to 8 players

When I end up with 10 on the rare occasion I have the dealer sit out. We still play 9 handed and the dealer can focus on controlling the game.
Good solution. I hate 10-handed games. Do you have a problem with misdeals playing 10-handed?

It is rare that I get 10 players since it is invite. It usually only happens when someone backs out and I fill the seat then asks to play still last minute.

Misdeals don’t really happen since we all are watching to make sure the dealer skips themself.

We play NLHE tournaments. Late last year I switched from 10 max to 9 max. 9 is easier to manage. One of my tables could comfortably accommodate 10, but it was hard not to bang up the wife's furniture sometimes with 10. For other games, a lower number would probably be better. Way back in day when we played dealer's choice cash, 7 was really the most you could do with some of the games.

We did not have trouble with misdeals regardless of number.

All our tables (mine and my friends') fit 10 comfortably. So the majority insists on 10 players for NL holdem. But a few of us prefer 8. At 8 players, there's a much better chance a solid raise reduces the field pre-flop.

10 players = last to speak "well now I have to call with ATC. I got pot odds."

We all know in the long run we're making money off him. But you just hate his grin when flop comes 569 rainbow.

Plus those nights we're short and only 7-8, sometimes the mixed games come out to play. :)
