How would you feel about receiving a package like this.... (2 Viewers)

To be fair, I've received some very poorly packed chips from high-powered PCF sponsors -- loose in unpadded bags inside MFRBs. I've never bitched about it, but it has surprised me...
Yeah, but even the way he does that is pretty solid, I’ve gotten that a few times and they are still in neat rows upon arrival. I think it’s like 60 a row or something.

It is even worse given the fact that you guys have free supplies at USPS. At Canada Post we pay for every piece of bubble wrap and every box.
I've managed to accumulate a great hoard of USPS shipping supplies. I will dispense them mercilessly upon the PCF nation. Sending back what has already been sent. Cutting down on usage and increasing the efficiency of every square inch of bubble wrap and box. Loving it!!!

I received a package of highly coveted chips from a fellow forum member on here that were packed very similar to how the OP was packed, but without the tape around the chips - i.e. all the chips were loose within a bubble mailer. While no chips were broken, I couldn't be sure that damage didn't occur in transit. I reached out to provide this member with some feedback, and didn't once ask for anything. Imagine my surprise when he informed me this is how he typically ships chips, and he has never once received a complaint!

While I wasn't satisfied with the outcome of that private message string, I do think I got my point across and thus don't feel the need to publicly out this guy. I will point to this thread (and hope he finds this message) as proof/validation of my feedback to him. Please, please, please do not pack chips in this manner. Refer to this thread for some great examples on how to pack chips, and feel free to reach out if you want any tips from me.

Crazy...I hope everybody knows USPS gives away their flat rate boxes for free (just ask if they aren't in the lobby). Grab a stack at the post office and take your time to package at home. I'd be comfortable using every package I've ever received and sent on this forum as a football on a kickoff and open it up with no damage whatsoever!

USPS Envelopes and boxes can be ordered online, in quantity, and delivered at no cost to you. It takes about ten days for supplies to arrive. Saves a trip to the post office. I too keep a supply on hand for those rare instances when I might maybe sell chips. :nailbite:

It sucks when some of the chips are fairly rare/expensive... had mint chips shipped from a member loose in a bag from France.. some flea bites were added on the journey.
The below photos were the result of a new guy in shipping from a vendor that we all know.. they apologized and made it right:

I've only gotten well packaged chips from this forum so far.

Is there a preference between flat seran wrapped chips vs stacked seran wrapped chips? I've gotten both. I suppose you'd want to wrap flat for a padded envelope.

Ain’t this the truth? I don’t even get it, but when I open they are pristine and lined up, at attention. Nary a single scratch. So, either go the route of intense care, office products, double boxed/wrapped/taped, or just use witchcraft.

Unfortunately this is probably a big contributor to USPS's staggering annual operating losses.
The USPS woes have very little to do with this. With their package delivery services skyrocketing in the last year's one could argue this is helping stem the bleeding honestly.

Yeah, the free boxes are definitely not a big contributor... prefunding health care benefits, pension program, labor costs, capped prices, unprofitable locations remaining open, etc.

Well, how many boxes are given away free by USPS every year? I can tell you that Canada Post charges between $3.50 and $6.00 per box for the most common parcel sizes. If USPS charged something similar, how much would that affect the bottom line?

They're free enough that we could ship a large ass box of them to Canada for you guys lol

Wouldn’t buy them

A rule I use is this. If it don't take 15-20 minutes to open a couple hundred chips because all the Saran wrap and tape you didn't pack it right. That's after all the bubble wrap was removed which should only take 3.28 minutes.

I recieved this when we first started chipping, online order from some company I can't recall the name of

Needless to say they were garbage and we returned them

USPS does charge for boxes (non Priority Mail boxes)... and tape, and greeting cards, and bubble wrap and a plethora of other crap that you can get way cheaper elsewhere. The boxes it gives away for free are for Priority Mail use only. It is displayed prominently on the outside and also appears on the inside (so you can't take the box apart and tape it together inside out), so I'm sur ethe USPS rolls the cost of the box into what it charges for Priority Mail. Is *every* Priority Mail box used to ship? No, for sure not. But the boxes are of a size that they are not convenient to use for much else.

I agree with the above posts that giving away boxes is not one of the main reasons the USPS is losing money.

Jeesh. He prob thought they did a great job, too. It must have taken awhile to cut the tape lengthwise and taping 5 chips rather than 10 or 20.
The worst part of this lmfao

"I'm gonna get a great shipping review after all this work!"

This thread I have to send to the guy that will ship me some chips this week, as an example of what not to do! (He seems totally quite experienced though, so he probably already packed them in an impeccable way :-))
