In on next secret group buy (3 Viewers)

Appreciate the feedback. I hope my questions don't come across as accusatory, angry, or anything else. I'm just curious about the process. I've been a chip geek for a long time and just amazed at the custom sets I've seen thus far.

But as people have pointed out - this is an open forum. So if GPI is monitoring this forum they can see all of the sets being resold in the classified section.

If they're really interested in investigating its already out in the open. Right? They would only need to check their internal records to see which employees were involved in the approval of these sets being resold.

In my mind, the 'damage' has already been done when folks started reselling their sets. It's already out in the open for GPI to investigate - those employees involved have been outed already with the photos of these sets.

I'm not sure I follow... you think posting up that employee's email and office phone number so 300 chippers can harass him about their own order is going to help things?

I really dont want to get into all this. If you want a bit of background PM me.

PS People realize this is a completey open forum right? Anyone can google search
and read what is written here. I am not trying to shut down conversation but some comments in this thread would have been far better suited for PMs.

PPS. @justsomedude nailed it above @TheDuke thats why.

I’ve tried PM’s, didn’t work

If the reason is to protect people from getting 'in trouble' (put in quotes as I don't know the extent... Is it employees getting in trouble or buyers getting in legal trouble?) then that reasoning doesn't really hold any water.

Once people have posted pictures of these sets (for sale or just to brag), it's easy for GPI to cross reference their own internal records to find out who was involved in these sets (employees and buyers).

I guess I need to spell it out for you...?

This is pretty simple stuff. A few people were able to work the system and get their orders made. Think of it as sneaking past the backstage security gate at a Beatle's concert to meet George, Paul, Ringo, and John. You hang out, have a few beers, and snack from the craft services table. Maybe you take a photo for the memories, and to show your buddies after the fact.

OK, you pulled a fast one. You were a smooth talker and got yourself in. No harm - no foul, right? It was a one-off scenario and "it won't happen again" right? Wink-wink nudge-nudge... security-Steve gets a slap on the wrist, everyone laughs, and all is honky dory.

Now... you go back to the same security gate with 300 of your friends and bum rush security-Steve to let you all party backstage with the band. People likely lose jobs and the "fit hits the shan" so to speak.

Smarten up. It's not hard to figure out that a few people working the system is not wise for hundreds of others.

You seem to be taking my questions quite personally.

I've pointed out the holes in your rationale to witholding information and you've replied by personally attacking and trying to belittle me.

I'm just a curious bystander. I have no status on this forum and no connections - just curiosity. Sorry if your feelings somehow got hurt.

I'm fairly new here, but it seems to me like there are better ways to make $$$/time and effort spent than getting custom Paulson's and selling them to the people on here. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think first it starts as a passion project and then people are just willing to vomit money at you for your customs. I don't believe the first intention is to get people's money.

If you can order 30k chips from paulson and sell them on the fourm you can expect to make about 100 thousand dollars at current market prices. So there is that.

Huh?

I have no interest in any of this.

And I am not trying to belittle you, and I apologize if I've offended you. I've simply provided an example of why a few chippers working diligently to get an exception to corporate rules may not be a wise approach for a large number of people. If you think that doesn't make sense, or there are "holes" in that logic, then there's not much else I can say/do for you.

Not really worth my time. I just browse eBay for singles, usually bicycle tires. Buy them for $2-$3 and resell on the forum for $4. It's less hassle and safer.

I'm thinking of starting a super secret CPC Group Buy (Not a Group Buy).............I'll post the super secret details when I start it......

Ya I can foresee a GPI employee, sprucing up his resume in the near future. At least he has that $1000 on the side to carry him over. ;)

Huh?

I have no interest in any of this. But if you think emailing 2 or 3 GPI staffers with photos of existing personal-sets and saying something like, "hey, these chippers got their orders, can I get mine now?" is a sound and logical approach... then by all means, go for it.

Yikes... I think you and I are engaging in a discussion but it doesn't seem like we're discussing the same topic. I'll have to re-read my posts, but my point of the pictures being available in brag posts or sale posts was the notion that the 'cat is out of the bag'. Meaning the idea of buyers protecting themselves or the employees they've used is out of the window.

How in the world did you interpret my posts as: 'I'm going to take photos of existing sets to a GPI rep and ask for my own set to be made'.

Again, some folks already have their sets and have openly stated they are not planning on ordering any future sets... Why not share the info? People have hinted it's for protection. But that's clearly not the case.

And I am by no means trying to belittle you, I've provided a simple example of why a few chippers getting exceptions to corporate rules may not be a wise approach for a large number of people. So the terms 'I guess I need to spell it out for you' and 'smarten up' are respectful phrases you use in civil discussions?

Again, if GPI is actually monitoring this forum, photos of these sets is all they need. Everyone involved is documented in their internal records.

I love reading the gossip as much as anybody else, but a few people in here are 100% right. That’s the first thing I thought of as well as this thread progressed, you guys really need to pump the brakes on the planning in the open. If you can’t understand what justsome and the zesty dude are saying then you wouldn’t have been very useful doing dirt back in the day, way too much talk in the open. Dry snitching everywhere.

Like I say, I’m not acting like I’m above reading about all this stuff, it’s cool, props to everybody that has got it done, I would love to get the story from folks one day face to face. And I understand the sets are posted for pron and sales already, but seriously guys, there is a huge difference between cops “knowing” where the drug dealers hang out and somebody standing on the street corner yelling with a sign. Yeah, maybe the quiet ones get busted sometimes, but 100% of the time the loud guy is getting busted and bringing heat on the whole area.

Just chill, more pms, not just for the sake of your own endeavors but for the respect of the people who have already got it done. A thread like this could be seen as rubbing gpis nose in it by somebody pissed off that it happened in the first place let alone is being actively planned again.

No offense to @WhiteMamba1646, who I believe started this as a joke, but I think this entire thread is a REALLY bad idea. For the obvious reasons. YMMV.

yea it was meant as a joke but definitely got carried away. my apology's to all. lol. if any mod wants to shut this down feel free. i was just looking for some fun banter but didn't mean to cause a riff. congrat's to all that have succeeded and look forward to buying more from everyone soon! :)

Can't say I disagree but this conversation was bound to happen somewhere and will continue to happen every time a new custom set is acquired and posted on here so basically I'm saying people with customs should lock them up and never tell anyone about them right? :p

These conversations will happen, and it’s only natural that they will. Many of us share the dream of custom Paulson chips, when some succeed the rest of us want it even more. It would be awesome to pull this off, but I’ll prolly be buying more diapers than chips in the coming months:D
