Matsui Cash Set GB - Design Thread (4 Viewers)

For me, it's important to remember what the great things about these Matsuis are - the sharp edges and bright colours! You can get boring colours anywhere but yellow, green and pink in the tourney set are stunners.

ok, my two cents, don't know how to do a layout , but here are my ideas

.25 (prefer .50) B mold, lawn green, orange
1 C mold, violet, lemon
5 I mold, mandarin orange, ultramarine
20 H mold, terracotta, mustard
100 D mold, cobalt blue, scarlet

But it's basically the only chip in my game. There would be no shining. It would be like Seattle weather -- all grey, all the time.
why not just let the frac shine as well... ;)

I am fully on board with the frac shining bright as well! That's one of my favourite things about my ES cash set, the quarters are the best chip in the set and they are always on the table in quantity.

Most of us probably play small enough stakes that the lower denom chips should be awesome, as that is the bulk of what's going to be on the table. As cool as it is to have nice $20's and $100's, they really won't see a ton of table time in a lot of sets.

Here were the two ideas that I was working on, when I was kicking this around in February. Back then, I thought maybe we would have a wider variety of mold options, we don't. And we are limited to those in the OP, to have square edges. But just some ideas. The second one is a no-go, because I agree, there HAS to be a yellow chip, either as a 1 or 5. At least that's my vote.

Some of the brighter colors.

Just FYI, in order to use the bright day glo orange (or any of the brighter colors), all the chip bases would have to use colors from that kit or the chip weights will be off. There is about a 2 gram difference I'm told between the color kits. The color samples are noticeably lighter too. Not all molds can use these brighter colors for bases and/or spots. The molds in the FP can use these as bases.

This is uncharted territory for the home market as only a handful of casino customers have done mixed color kit chips.
I've never seen or handled a chip that used the light weight brighter color as a base and regular colors for the spots. I do plan on ordering some chips this week that uses the brighter colors so I might have them in a few weeks.

@200 Motels, those look more like Bud Jones to me than Matsuis. I'm a big fan of Bud Jones chips, but I'd prefer to see Matsuis that look like Matsuis, not ones that emulate Bud Jones. Same reason I don't like ceramics that emulate clay.

(I'm probably out for the game either way, but just my 2¢... )

Colors in the top one are awesome, though I'd prefer a bright orange or pink chip for the frac. Bright is better!!

I agree with bright orange or pink for the frac, but it's going to be tough to design a set using that bright orange, since the design tool doesn't include those colors, and based on what Tommy said, it sounds like it's all or nothing for those alternate colors. Hard to know what's available.

I think the pink chip in the tourney set is a total stunner. I admit that I generally don't like pink chips ....but those Matsui tourney T500s are incredible! Even still, I'd rather if the frac were orange. Wait a sec...orange frac, blue $1, yellow $5, starting to resemble the BTP cash set, LOL (if only! )

If there are artwork fees for each chip then a NCV would work best in the set to flex as a frac/snapper/$20 chip?

It does seem like a bit of a pain to know what's available from Matsui lol. Pink has been done a lot, and I'm ok if the frac is a different color. Not a lot of things are deal breakers for me, like I said I'm not artistic at all so I'll leave the designing to people with that talent.

Fair enough guys, fair enough :sneaky: I'm open to accepting that my love of gray chips might not be universal. Worst case scenario, I'll save the gray frac for my customs.

Mel,

I like this one. I would consider buying as is. I still would prefer a yellow one. I don't love the 20/25, but I could live with it. I also don't give a shit about the 100. Probably not getting any.

Hard pass on your second mock up. A yellow one or five is mandatory for my participation (@Tommy , even if we can't come up with a set that I like, I will still handle the collection of payments).

Are there any 3 color options with square edges? If so, what’s the price difference?

Swap the pattern on the frac and 20 and I really like that design. Could also go for a bright orange on the 100 instead of green
