Homegame Host - how would you? (1 Viewer)

I know I’ve been over a few times and still not been shot at - talk about disappointed  :ROFLMAO:

The leather satchel is called a sporran. The last time I wore one I was down in England at a beer festival and someone asked me what I kept in it. I showed them my iPhone and a cigar. My forefathers will be doing somersaults in their graves...

What did your forefathers used to put in the sporran? Did they stuff it with animal innards and oats, boil it and eat it? :)

I got most of my early education on Scottish history and traditions from Scottie on Star Trek.

Been a scotch drinker for a long time. Always blamed my childhood television choices.

I once had to move out of an apartment because the Scottish neighbor across the airshaft liked to practice his bagpipes constantly. I have believed every stereotype about Scotsmen every since ;^)
I can’t handle the bagpipes. If there’s a marching band and loads together it can be quite stirring but when it’s a 15 year old learning to play who decides to stand outside my office dressed as a tartan shortbread tin trying to look cute for tourists it’s a different matter  :ROFLMAO:

He was some man!! Think they actually did an episode where he outdrank an alien. There’s a stereotype to be proud of  :ROFLMAO:

My Italian grandfather loved bagpipes and wanted them played at his funeral. He was happy to learn via a History Channel documentary that the Romans brought the bag pipes and the kilt to Britain. Via Italia!

Yeah they got as far as Glasgow where I’m from. There’s the ruins of a bath house and bits of the Antonine wall are still here.

That’s amazing. I am a huge history buff and would go nuts to see stuff that old. I’ve never been to Europe but am planning to make several trips once my two boys are a bit older.

It’s ironic that the small pizza oven I’m looking to buy is made in Edinburgh! Company is called Ooni

It seems a bit trickier for you guys to come over here than the other way around. We get 28 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays. Any Americans I’ve spoken to playing golf seem to get a lot less time off. Don’t known if that’s the norm or just the guys I spoke to.
You definitely come over if you get the chance. Italy is great. Everyone goes to Rome but Florence is amazing.
If you really like history then look at Orkney. Some amazing discoveries recently going back 10,000 years.
