A couple of guys are absolute murder when it comes to calling an all-in during our tourney games. They can take 5 minutes or longer so after reading about shot clocks (I’d never heard of them before as basketball is very much a minority sport over here) I bought one of these time cubes.
Anyone can turn it on at any point regardless of whether or not they are in the hand. It’s become something of a running joke but the difference it’s made to our game is amazing. We’re rattling through double the number of hands now.

I’m still trying to get them into using two decks but one step at a time...

Many reviews say it stops working. I don't know if that's because it's geared towards HIIT workouts and gets abused, or if it's just shitty quality.

I'd be interested to hear how yours holds up.

I’ve had mine for 6 months now and not had any problems. Still using the original battery as well although it only gets used a few times a night twice a month. The threat of it being used is enough of a deterrent. I’m glad I bought it. Only two of my players aren’t ha ha!!

Way cool! We don't really have any big tankers, but I'm buying one simply because it's cool--and just in case.

If anything it’ll give you a laugh. We started with a 30 second clock and now it’s down to 10 seconds. Usually it doesn’t get used unless someone is already taking too long and effectively it’s a 10 second warning.

Yeah looks like good fun! I think I'll sneak it under the table somehow and just whip it out on a reg in the middle of a hand.

Thanks for the link. FWIW, I suspect that two decks would speed up your game even more than the cube. Waiting ~20-40 seconds between every hand for the previous deal/stub to be collected, shuffled and cut is a major slowdown over the course of a night.

Some people just want to see the internet burn...

i tried two decks and the other 8 players booted it into touch. It was actually slower and they were mixing the decks together. Needless to say that there's a respectable amount of alcohol consumed at my poker nights...

1. Thity players means seventeen.
2. One deck is actually faster than two.
3. Final table of 10 is better than 9, but that decison should not be made in advance but rather should be determined on site by the proprietor over the objections of the majority.
4. Pocket deuces is a strong hand.
5. The best way to play aces in late position against a full table is to limp and then flat call pre-flop after a raise and a re-raise.
6. [Removed so as not to offend... I told you it was a catty list.]
7. Its possible to build an ellipse with enough room for 17 players.
8. Its possible to build a table without any padding at all under the playing surface.
9. Bounce dryer sheets make excellent rail padding.
10. Classic car auctions are the best thing on TV on a Saturday afternoon.
11. Blind schedules are better viewed on a 15" laptop rather than a 50" plasma.
12. . [Removed so as not to offend.]
13. Breaks are not necessary during an 8-hour tourney and should only be taken by consensus of the group, or if the owner decides he needs to close his cigar store.
14. [Removed so as not to offend.]
15. Wearing sweat pants in public is an acceptable fashion decision. [Actually, 11 years later, it seems much more acceptable.]
16. There is no need to pay any more than the top 3 in a two-table tournament.
17. A single deck of Copags is a nice prize for fourth place after 7 hours of play.

I never claimed I wasn't an asshole.
