I was clearing out my shelves to re-organize and inventory my chips. I came across a set I forgot I picked up off craigslist a couple of years ago (May 2017). I paid $175 for 500 Empress Joliets. They are in well-used condition, but I think it was a good deal. Thoughts?

Also, the $1 chips are rare and will pull the most demand. $100s would be your next up on demand and the rest would probably pull around $.85-$1/chip

Thanks guys. I thought it was a good deal, but the condition had me worried a bit. The guy who sold them to me apparently won them in a raffle and had no plans to keep them, so he was happy with what I paid him. All came out winners in that one.

You got a really great deal! Those $1's are really hard to find. I still regret selling the 200 I had like 5-6 years ago. My biggest chip selling regret was letting go any of my Empress chips thinking I could get them back in the future if I wanted them again.

I think if you auction the $1s you probably get close $3 ea or more. They never go up for sale. I sold a rack of secondaries this past year for $200. The $5s and $25s around $1 ea give or take. $4ea for the hundos.

Good to note. I'm still in the build-up phase of my collection, so no wheeling and dealing yet. I'll hold onto these for a while. If I ever do decide to sell, it would be as a full set and it'll be on this board.

Yeah I think you did well. I am not a big collector of former casino chips myself, but I bet you could do an auction in the classifieds starting at 400-500 and get some interest.

That's a pretty desirable breakdown for 1-1 or 1-2. I am with @Tommy sell as a set.
