You may never see a set like this come up for auction again. I have received many offers over the years but never budged until now. Full set with a great breakdown and shaped inlays.

I am somewhat conflicted about selling, but chips prices are high and they haven't seen felt in years. For this reason, I set the starting bid at $4k. If they don't sell, I won't lose any sleep.

1200 chips:
100 x Blue NCV hotstamps
400 x $1
450 x $5
200 x $25
50 x $100

Extras include a single $500 and $5000 chip and two dice.
Chips are in generally very good casino used condition except $5s which are quite used. Some are "bicycle tire" used and they stack a bit shorter than the other denominations. Pictures reflect the actual condition. The $500 and $5000 show minor water damage. The $1s are extremely nice and I was told when I bought them years ago that they were hand-picked as the best of the $1s available.

  1. STARTING BID: [ $4,000 ]
  2. Bids must be placed using numbers (no images) in minimum increments of $ [ $10 ]
  3. NO RESERVE. The Starting Bid of this auction will be treated as the Reserve Price.
  4. All bids are to be placed openly in this thread. No bids via PM/Conversation.
  5. Auction will use the '5 minutes after last closing bid rule'. Highest bid at [ Sunday, March 24 10pm CDT ] will win unless there is a bid within 5 minutes of closing time - then the closing time will be within 5 minutes after the latest bid was posted. A bid at the close time is NOT a valid bid. Since seconds are not displayed on post timestamps, the following examples will be used as a reference.

Example #1: If the close time is 3:00pm, any bid at 2:56pm up to and including 2:59pm is valid and extends the auction for another 5 minutes.
Example #2: If the close time is 3:00pm, a bid at 2:55pm does not extend the auction.
Example #3: If a bid is placed at 2:56pm, the auction now closes at 3:01pm. A bid at 3:01pm is not a valid bid.
Example #4: If the close time is 3:05pm, and a bid is placed at 3:04pm, the auction now closes at 3:09pm.

  6. Edited posts will be voided. (note: ALL edits are logged instantly even if done within the small time frame before the 'last edited' message is shown)
  7. I reserve the right to: 1) cancel the auction if no bids have been made; 2) edit the listing to correct errors or clarify rules as needed.
  8. PCF (it's Owner, Admins, and Moderators) are in no way responsible for any actions in this auction.
  9. Shipping Terms: [ well padded shipping in cardboard boxes (no trays),USPS flat rate, insured and signature required is included ] Edit: will ship international at cost
  10. Payment Terms: [ PayPal F&F, or regular PayPal + 3% of winning price ]

Can someone explain why these are so valuable?

It's hard to say this without sounding like a dick. What could possibly be said that would help you understand? Look at the pics and the breakdown, combined with rarity and there you have it. These ain't run-of-the-mill, boring, RHC Jack chips. An all-time classic imo.

I guess I get that. But everyone is talking about the 1's and I guess I don't see what's do great about the 1's. Every hobby has its 'Mona Lisa'. I guess for chips I expected something different.

Like with any luxury items that all have about the same functionality (dice or mint paulsons) it's all about preference. Personally though, I'm on the GC $1 band wagon all the way!

Ok, now this might derail a little, but please post pictures of $1 chips that are nicer than these (maybe post a new thread). The GC $1's have an awesome spot pattern, and colors that absolutely pop! There isn't a $1 I've seen that would look as good on the table in big piles.

Imo it's about personal preference. I think the 25s look great. 1s...meh.

Even though I think the GCs are spectacular, I totally understand where you are coming from. The PCA secondary set is extremely close, minus the $1s, but the PCA set has incredible fracs. I can’t imagine paying what this set is going to go for, but if I was a mega baller like so many on here are, I might have a different opinion. Nonetheless, the set is awesome.
