Do You Have Paulson Chips To Sell? (1 Viewer)

Lol, you mean Joe's "pretty much everything you need" is about $300,000 of stuff short? Just a small detail.

Did you miss my other post on this?
You would be missing about $300,000 worth of equipment to actually make the chips, and you get a worn out Hispania scroll mold.
i have a nice clean Huxley one :)

Ah, and you also need 20 years of practice :)

There are certainly companies out there capable of making that push. Game On Chip Company is one of them. I don't see how GPI could possibly think that selling chips to the home market could be of any security risk; the Paulson consumer molds are vastly different from those used in casinos. They have three existing molds for the consumer market that I can think of off hand: pips mold, paradise mold, and the Paulson mold. None of these would ever go into a casino and after learning the about the costs of creating cups for molding chips, I don't see why they would just throw that money away as well as letting BCC's old equipment and their old molds sit and collect dust somewhere. There are too many good molds out there not being utilized (cigar & snifter, TFP, Paradise, etc). I really think it's time for us to make a push in. We know we've got people like Josh at Apache on our side, so let's find out what we need to do to keep some kind of GPI/BCC home market intact. The worst response we could get would just be a flat "no" which leaves us exactly where we are right now. We all want this, so let's find a way to make it happen.

I'm surprised that there's been no response to this. We're all chip fanatics, so instead of sitting around whining about this, why not try to persuade GPI in our favor?

Despite the great number of enthusiasts here, our pocketbooks are only so deep. I suspect that there are enough to keep CPC afloat for as long as they want to continue to produce fabulous chips, but I don't know if there are enough to hold two companies up. Unless there is another poker boom, I am happy with CPC being the only game in town.

Would I like a 2nd option? Sure! Unless JimB is teaching some young apprentice, the home clay chip market lives and dies with him. That is why I did not hesitate when CPC was trying to generate funds for the repair of the FDL mold. I see it as a limited time offer, though we have no idea when that time will run out. When it does, another company may try to step in, or maybe GPI will see the home market as a viable option again. If no-one does, every custom CPC set will become an unreplicatable treasure.

After the ASM Vegas debacle, I cannot see how or why anyone who dreams of a custom set would ever wait. Put a second mortgage on. Eat ramen for the next year. Do whatever it takes - order your CPC set today!

The above message is not endorsed by David or JimB in any way. However, if they see a dramatic jump in orders after this post, they can thank me by adding extra chips into my order :)

Considering that they tried out the home chip market for around 10 years and finally decided to stop, sounds like their fed up with it. Their supplying chips to many of the casinos in the world and don't need the extra headache. They weren't making enough money to justify production.

I don't think it's security at all - it's price points.

Consumer Paulson chips don't sell unless they're priced very low, compared to the cost... So the margin is very low.

By itself, that's fine... But the big volume purchasers, like casinos, want a big discount compared to the consumers. And if you've already dropped your drawers to sell to consumers, there's nowhere else to go.

Pretty sure that Josh@apache has done plenty of both whining and persuading, and I defer to his judgement and course of action as being best for him (and ultimately us). GPI is not easy to work with.

why would anyone sell to Josh for .80c, when they sell on here for $2.. go figure

For $2? Where can I get those? I need a rack of WTHC 25's! Last sale was lightning grabbed up at $295/rack and I missed that.

What would the factors be for Paulson returning to the home market?

I wonder if Paulson seeing their chips sell for $2 to $3 each on the current market would be motivation for them to re-enter the market at a higher price point, say $1.00 - $1.50 per chip

I'm thinking that it's not even on their radar and have no idea what they are selling for.

They could care less, one big casino order is more than all of us would buy combined. Also will add that customs do not represent much of the resale market. That market is largely mint chips from closed casinos.

#2 son has 1,000 uncirculated WTHC.
1 - 300 (Blue). $1
5- 250 (Red). $5
25 - 200 (Green). $25
100 - 150 (Black). $100
500 - 50 (Purple). $500
1000 - 25 (Yellow). $1,000.
He said he might be willing to part with for something north of $6,000. Let me know and I will talk to him.

Barely worth half that on a good (re: desperate) day.

WTHC's might be the nicest fantasy Paulsons next to the LeNoirs but $6 / chip is kind of insane.

If your son wants to find out what these are worth (or sell them) then PCF is the place to do it.
He/you could just start a
"What is the going rate for uncirculated WTHC chips?" thread and there would likely be plenty of responses.
Personally I wouldn't pay over $2 /chip for ANY fantasy chip but I suspect there are some out there that would.

fantasy chips are not pushing those kinda numbers around here

All points well taken. Notwithstanding forum prices this guesstimate originated/was built from eBay auctions. #2 is not anxious to sell but would if the price was right. He would/could do better if he broke the set up but I don’t see that happening

Regarding the $2 per chip comment please note there is an auction on this site with a current bid of $17 per $500 PCA chip. Guess there are always exceptions to the “rule of thumb”
