CPC Customs - PoCo After Dark (1 Viewer)

Thanks to everyone for their feedback, especially @Ray-Col for providing a modified mock-up, in an effort to address the concerns. Okay, my photo editing skills are non-existent, so please excuse the rough looking mock-up I did using PowerPoint. On the left is the original that David is prepping for production... on the right is something I slapped together to address a couple of concerns a few of you had... (1) PoCo appearing to not be centred because of how close the corner of the "P" is to the edge versus the "o"; and (2) the plainness of the font.

(1) The trouble with just moving PoCo over to the right is that it will not be centred with "AFTER DARK". If I move both, then it's obvious that "AFTER DARK" isn't centred either.
(2) The font choice was specific as I was aiming for a clean look as well as avoiding too much white so that the gradient wasn't overpowered. As the OP was about enlarging the font size anyway, I certainly don't mind looking at different fonts to achieve the same results.

The mock-up on the right shows the only font that appealed to me... the swooping "P" allows "PoCo" and "AFTER DARK" to be treated as one object for centring, and it certainly isn't plain looking. If I go with the fonts on the right, everything else will carry over from the previous design (stars, crescent moon and gradient), although exact spacing and sizing of the fonts will need to be fine tuned. Again, the one on the right is not final... it is just a concept.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

The original Poker After Dark font is called friz quadrata bold. Maybe give it a try with this style.

Thanks for the suggestion, however I'm intentionally avoiding this font and similar looking ones.

Don't know why I didn't think of this before but perhaps just italicizing the "PoCo" and then returning the "AFTER DARK" to regular (middle chip)?

I prefer the original font to the more stylized option. When it is italicized the moon may appear to be an L, and you don't want that.

My original suggestion that the font looked plain was aimed at the denominations, rather than the "PoCo", to be honest. I would try evaluating some fonts such as Calibri which have just a bit more style than Arial.

This actually could be achieved with a plain font, too - if you just extend the vertical stroke of the P downward to the baseline of 'after dark' and thus bringing them together. :)

I'm not fond of the italic version as the L-effect @superchromix mentioned struck me as well.

I think they look great like they are. As a fellow CDO (It's in alphabetical order the way it should be) embracer, I like that they all match. Very well done, and I love the personal touch.

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the fonts. Now... thanks to @72o and @SixSpeedFury, I now have a fifth chip design in mind for an add on order down the road. Because I want to go with a white base and brown spots, I think I need to change the DG Peacock spot on the T2000 to either Retro Blue or Blue... thoughts?

Haha sorry man. But it does look great with the addon. You only need a few of those too.

These look great! I'm in for a sample set if offered (y)

Sorry folks, between work and the flu, I haven't kept up with this thread the way I should have, and did the bare minimum. Sooo, just to catch up on some good feedback...

I knew what you were aiming at... it was others that mentioned about the P being too close to the edge and so I was trying to address both.

Sorry, I didn't explain myself properly ... it was more about leaning the top of the P away from the edge. Technically, you don't need to extend anything down as AFTER DARK was always centred directly underneath anyway.

I agree... thanks!

Go with all caps, and/or get a font with the serif.
Not digging the all caps idea but agree with a serif for the chip value... thanks!

Everyone's input and suggestions were very much appreciated! I settled on using a rounded font for PoCo so that the edges were softened. I believe the original font used for the chip value was Impact so I went with a more stylized variation... a nod to the original without copying it. The changes in these fonts drowned out the stars and the AFTER DARK so the stars were brightened and the AFTER DARK was made a little bigger. After doing the printed arm's length test, I am satisfied. Hopefully David will have good news for me tomorrow...

Oh man, that's awesome! In for a sample set with the new 10k. Either 2k works.

Just to be clear, there is no 10K chip at this time... just an idea for down the road (don't know when that will be), as previously mentioned above. Still interested in just a four chip sample at this time? If yes, order thread is here (title reads "closed" but I have a few more"):
