MAN CAVE Pics thread - no stack posts (7 Viewers)

Well, this is my umpteenth hobby. I've been hosting a game for a few years and decided to upgrade my chips. I figured I'd introduce myself and pictures tell a better story, This room pretty defines me and most of the items in here are personal and have a story. Pick out any item if you like and I'll tell you the story, short or long. Thanks for great forum!

Wow. These are terrible phone pics. I need to make friends with my digital camera again.

Welcome to the Forum! Great looking place! Go Eagles and Flyers! Love the Pac Man arcade game. I see a humidor there too. Awesome!

Thanks a lot. I took some more pics, better resolution I hope. Not much of a story on the PacMan. A Craigslist buy that didn't really pan out. I was trying to get some beer lights, but they were junk. I saw this there and figured what the heck.

Most of the other items are personal. That was my son's first guitar. The hockey stick on the door was my daughter's first time in roller hockey. Man could she clear a corner. That hanging fly rod was my first fishing rod as a child. My Eagles shirt was signed by Jeff Garcia. I met him in NJ at our employee meeting. Until Carson, he was really the only QB I cared much for. Lots of homemade items from the kids, some autographed items from sports teams, gifts from family members, etc.

To be honest, I was really just using existing holes when it began. When we bought the house, i thought, "when things settle down, I'll really do this room up right." They've never settled down and I just started hanging stuff as I went. It's a little busy I guess. I know one thing my wife was right about, I need a lighting solution in there. Taking pictures was rough. I have no issue at my table and I installed a small track light set to face the dartboard. Still, I might need more across the middle of the room. Most time, the dim lights create a nice atmosphere, but sometimes you just need to light it up!

KhoiFish82, what is that your table and chairs are resting in? I'd like a surface I can place on the carpet, which will allow chairs to roll easier.

Awesome. It's like playing poker in the middle of an American Pickers episode. (y)

Holy crap! I'm watching that right now!!

To be honest, most of it has family connection. I did buy some items to even things out, or items that were around when I was a kid.

The PRR lantern, that was grand pop's. In fact, after looking at the pictures, I just pulled that down, ran a light to hit and hung it over my chips.

The 1903-A3 Springfield stock is the exact stock that my childhood 30-06 came from.

The tavern lights, beer signs, I did pick. Though they are mostly PA brands.

I was a U.S. mailman early in my career, so I picked that vintage mailbag. Things like that.

Every Christmas Eve my family comes over for our traditional poker game and festiviites. Since everything was cleaned up I thought it a great opportunity to show off my room using the Amazon Echo(Alexa). I know Ive mentioned it before but please forgive the table. I have to keep it because we use the craps and roulette way more than the poker. One day I'll get a nice topper for it. For some reason the video like to start about 30 seconds in. Start it at the beginning to see the room before the lights turn on. You can voice command each individual bulb. I have the light by the bar and the heads up table set to 10% to give it a certain ambiance.

Wow. That room is so many kinds of awesome! Damn man. That must be so much fun to hang out there. Very jealous. Nicey done. Damn.

I can see it now, guy takes a horrible 1 outer bad beat, "Alexa turn off the basement". He grabs the chips in the pot and makes a break for the stairs!!!

Very cool basement. How long did it take to program all the different areas? I am guessing you use the voice activated plug-in outlets I have seen on Amazon for about $80 each with power strips plugged into them?

This made me smile.

The entire basement can be programmed or reprogrammed in minutes. Very fast. Each light bulb has its own name. You can create basically unlimited groupings and name them. If you want certain bulbs to turn on for watching a movie you can program that with a name. If you want certain bulbs to turn on for poker you create a different grouping and assign which bulbs you want for that voice command. Its quite easy.
Heres the bulbs I use:

You have to have a bridge as well to control the bulbs. Alexa communicates with the bridge:

As far as things like the bar, the slot machines and the corner you were close to what I use. Heres what I use and then you can plug in any power strip you want.

We have these on all floors as well as the bedrooms. Its really nice. They do so much more than control lights. Whats neat is you can command any one of them to control any location in your house. For example if Im in the kitchen I can tell the alexa nearby to turn on my bedroom lights or to turn off my girls bedroom lights.

I've been a little lax when it comes to posting but I thought this would be a good time to show where I get to play poker now. Our previous home had limited room inside so anytime I had friends over we had to play either in my garage or when the weather was nice on my deck with a bunch of overhead lights. When, pleasant evenings was terrific. My family and I moved into this house about 16 months ago. It is a mid century modern design built in1959. Mostly all original with a fantastic bar/pub room. The painting on the wall is original from 1960 and is of Banff falls in Banff National Park in the province of Alberta. I did buy a shuffle board that gets a little use but mostly we use the room for poker or as second TV room. It has a great built in bar that has a fold out bed tucked in underneath.

Err...I'm gonna need to see that Murphy bar bed. The ability to literally fall down drunk, into your bed, is a must see.

Here's some pics of my man cave in progress.
The bar shown will eventually be gone. My dad bought it for me from a family member that was moving. It's a beautiful bar but it just doesn't fit in the room.

I plan to replace the bar with a small bar cabinet and some liquor shelves against the wall.

I also have plans to add a small couch, new dart board, a kegerator/beer fridge, and some more poker art.

That's sick. I'm jealous. Where did you get the rounders poster? Frame it yourself?

The wife got it for me for my bday last year. I believe she got it on amazon. Yes, I framed them myself. Got the frames at hobby lobby. Unfortunately, the rounders poster got a little wrinkled during the move to the new house.

Awesome set up and man cave. Congrats! (y)

I'll be able to get my man cave once the little ones go to college...only 8 and 10 years away, respectively. Not that I'm counting down or anything.

I'm assuming the lettering on the leg rests are just a protective covering? Chairs look super comfy!

Correct, the plastic came off easily. They're powered too! ;)

Which is cool, but now I have to run an extension cord to them, or pay to have an outlet put in the concrete basement floor..

Chairs are sweet...so is the whole room obviously.

Anyway to just fish your electrical in the ceiling to that column and place an outlet there?
