CPC Move Updates (143 Viewers)

So no changes have been made? No new web site, same payments options, same stock sets etc..?

What happened to the design contest?

And you just have to pay the whole thing upfront and pray?
Assume priority was getting original sets made, and second priority accepting new orders. Once things stabilize I imagine changes will come.

IMO sometimes it’s also good to run the way things “worked” in the past as well for a while just to get a personal sense on what might need fixing the most.

Mike’s accepted my offer to help with the website though, so know that will be changing eventually.

I assume you are using TheChipGuide as a template? Please confirm.

Was this a proactive email? If so I'm wondering where the mailing list is being handled. I got the updates from Jan and May but not this one, and I even have an order waiting for production.
I suspect that this was sent to many people as he has built up his contact list during the downtime based on the contact/order from submissions via the website. Maybe check SPAM folder?

Do you honk they were made in Washington or Maine? Quality all good??
I really don't know, they are Atlantic hot stamp black 100's so not much info to share on quality other than the stamps are very sharp! and the barrel heights match existing chips.
Idk, the batch of edges that just came out on some new DSQs look different/off compared to previous runs. May want to start there with barrels next to each other to compare/contrast.

@rjdev7 - Did you receive an extras beyond what was ordered btw? Not sure what thread we were discussing that in, but a friend who received a rack add-on didn't get a single chip over what was ordered, so public was/is curious, thanks.

I did not receive any extra chips. The edges look the same to me; I'm guessing they were made in Maine?

Kinda wild to not include an extra or two to account for shipping breakage considering the cost of getting an extra or two out post order closure. As long as the quality remains then I'm sure Mike knows we'll stand behind the company. Great to hear orders are starting to roll out!

I thought I would be getting some extras with my order, as everyone had told me from past orders they got extras with theirs. Knowing now that's not likely the case I probably would have adjusted my quantities. Bummer, oh well.

I imagine there will be extras on full custom orders, I don't think David sent extras when buying stock chips.
I’ve ordered twice, from David Spragg, received multiple extras for all denoms ordered. Both times.

Then I ordered for a third time, a custom Rounders add-on, and they sent me lots of extras.

I feel they should send 1 or 2. I suppose they aren’t required to. Would be nice if they kept that going.

Extras were always a courtesy in the event that a chip or two got past their QC. I always order 10 per denom extra in addition to what I need for my set to account for this. Anything else extra that I get is a bonus.

I don't think there is much dinging going on with extras or feeling entitled to them; my post kicking this off was out of curiosity. Unfortunately this has become necessary because CPC themselves doesn't tell the PCF community shit, at least publicly, so we have to resort to information-sharing on what to expect in terms of what is being received (both final product quality and quantity).

Maybe I'm a little more aggro in all of this, but having a more informed community is certainly a positive function of PCF and chipping in general, especially for such an important aspect of the hobby. Certainly knowing what to expect with regard to extras, even if that is zero, would help with any future ordering since that has now been opened back up.

Extras for stock chips seems unnecessary and very kind. BUT, for custom, they have to make some extra to ensure they have enough that pass qc don’t they? It seems wasteful, even disrespectful to toss them out.
I recall hearing that the publishing industry has a standard practice of guaranteeing your quantity, but can charge you up to 10% more if they deliver 10% above your order, all written into your contract

Not sure if it’s all QC margin related but I suspect that’s the main driver

Makes for a nasty surprise if you weren’t expecting it. Thankfully CPC doesn’t charge extra for over delivery so it’s instead a perk.

Extras shouldn't be anticipated or expected. Always order a few % over what you need to make sure you have extras for your needs.

Any extras that I ever received from Jim or David over what I ordered were a welcome bonus, but I never expected to get any chips over what I paid for.
