When do entry level chips cease to suffice?
When do you progress from Tinas etc?
When does it become acceptable to part with more money?
A year ago I started out with zero chips. I now have over 6000.
Could someone warn me about what’s headed my way? Should my wallet be concerned?

Sounds like you're progressing from value to quality, you'll get there doesn't worry.

Good question. It can start early or later within the set. It can encompass the entire lineup. Or, you can forgo it completely. Basically, do whatever makes you happy.

The most important suggestion that I can give you. Take your time and enjoy the journey!

Does every dollar I spend require a positive monetary return on investment?

If it does, you should avoid chipping and poker from this moment on.
If it does not………….sit back and enjoy your journey.

I feel you man. I just got my first set of custom Tina’s as a tournament set and they turned out so well I’m already weighing designing and buying a cash set. I’ve never once run a cash game in my house, mind you, but I just want the chips. You know, just in case a random group of cash players shows up at my door looking for a game.

And yes, I have about 4000 chips myself, including an old set of Nexgen Las Vegas 8000’s that I hang on to strictly for nostalgia. They haven’t seen play in years.

(Before anyone asks, no I don’t have any orange Nexgen 8000s. But if I found some for the right price, I can’t say I wouldn’t think about it. Just to complete a set that does nothing but sit in a case. I have issues.)

You know what? I avoid cash chips like the plague because tourneys are all we do, but that’s a great idea. Wanderers looking for a house hosting a cash game. That opens things up!

Most of us can relate to this post. I'm contemplating buying @Frank tourney set. Am amazing, classic clay set. I haven't hosted a tourney in about 15 years
