Ok there’s a few threads out there and they get a bit confusing but can someone give me the breakdown how to upload good photos

I use to do it on Imgur and then they wiped out my account and now all of those photos are gone…

@Cratty and someone derailed a thread the other day and I quite couldn’t follow along so a tutorial would be super helpful!

Other than collecting hot stamp $100s and hot stamp BOH my chipping acquisition journey is over. Going to highlight all my sets for some chip pr0n and need to be sure I upload the photos properly.

Drag your images into IMGUR

Once uploaded it'll look like this:

Select get share links and this'll pop up:

Copy the BBCODE link and paste it into PCF

I did that before and somehow they got zapped and now we cannot view my photos anymore on PCF

If you make an account and upload images onto it, and then your account is deleted, all your images are gone. So it's better to just upload them as guest. So even if 1 or 2 images get deleted, the rest are safe

Pixigy is the free phone app found (and very fast/easy). Just open, select a photo, and resave with the sRGB color profile so that colors aren’t lost.

Both Imgur and this method work equally in preserving colors to make sure they don’t get lost in uploading, but Imgur does maintain higher image quality (for zooming), as PCF will still compress anything directly uploaded.

And if I use a camera (not my iPhone, my my iPhone has such a problem picking up dark colors in my basement), and save it to my PC. What’s the best option that way? As @MatrixExplosion noted?

Photo editing program to make sure it saves as an sRGB (find a free one) or yes Imgur.

The colors are lost because of how PCF seems to handle raw photos that don’t have a color profile, and “assumes” one that doesn’t look great.

Is sRGB only with jpeg? Not sure if png and webp support it

Back in my pro photographer days sRGB wasn’t good enough for the snobs. Had to be AdobeRGB or ProPhoto. Although I don’t think either of those are possible with JPGs

My technical knowledge is not what it once was

For those confused, the easiest analogy is sound quality for music files. Really low data digital music will sound awful, as it’s been compressed so much. High quality audio has everything the artist intended to have in there

But it all falls apart (the highest quality mean) if your monitor isnt calibrated - think of mixing music on cheap old headphones vs a proper studio speaker setup

Long story short, sRGB signals to a browser how to display colors, and they’ll almost always look better

My chips are not near natural light and not gonna carry them for that…but you are certainly right!!!
I can attest, he keeps them locked in his dungeon, far underground, through the vault door… inside the locked metal rolling carts wrapped with thick chains…
