Some thoughts and questions on these two Dramaha variants.

In Dra2maha Zero, the cards likely to make the lowest pips hand in the mit are the same cards that are likely to make the strongest Omaha high hands (Aces & Faces), true? Does this then make scoops more likely?

Conversely, in Dra2maha 49, the cards likely to make the highest pips hand in the mit (Ts & 9s) are not necessarily the same cards that are likely to make the strongest Omaha high hands (Aces & Faces), true? Does this then make scoops more difficult?

It also should be noted that there are only 4 x Ts and 4 x 9s to help make Dra2maha 49 hands but there are 16 Aces and face cards combined to help make Dra2maha Zero hands.

So which game is more fun?

I lean more towards the challenge of Dramaha 49.

Drawmaha49 is one of the best games ever.

Drawmaha0 sucks and only terrible human beings enjoy it. Worse people call it. Totally unrelated but shoutout to @harrysallout.

Anyway, here was my first hand of Drawmaha0 ever at Degen in Dallas last year. I was dealt this. Pre-draw. I'm not biased.

I enjoy both versions of the game. Just don't put them back to back in the rotation, or even two games apart in the rotation. A couple of years ago at RIA, I was playing Dramaha 49 in my head when everyone else was playing Dramaha 0.

It was late in the meetup, late in the night, several old fashioneds on board at the time, and yes I torched some money on that particular hand, but they were pretty close in time in the rotation and I totally botched what specific variant we were playing.

I find 49 to be a superior game.

Zero often results in quartering pots, or worse. Much more likely for both pots to be split with 2 Broadway hands, and two zero or one point hands.

Disagree. As OP mentioned, I think a scoop is more likely in zero. Of course there are aberrations in both games.

Initially, I preferred 49, but now, if calling one, I'll call zero. More often than not, 49 forces you to choose which half of the pot you're going after.

I don't know if one is more 'fun' than another. Zero has more scoop potential since face cards are desirable.

Instead of being allowed to only draw 2, you can draw all five new cards.

Most often when I see someone draw a new hand, it's because they got in cheap and are just taking a shot. So...

Drawmaha49/Drawmaha0 Buy. You can draw up to 5 cards, but each draw card costs a BB (or some %age of the pot).

Splitting a pot to include half going to a 5 card hand with 1 draw neither feels like pure poker nor circus.

6 handed half the pot is regularly awarded to a pair, with most bad beat or woah moments being something like flush over straight. Oooooo.

A very unbalanced amount of action is pushed specific to board hands, not mitt holdings.

It’s what you call to kill action, when there’s something good on tv and you don’t want to pay attention, or your table is full of octogenarians complaining about the fun, action, information available games.

0/49 both fantastic variants, which one is better is determined by what’s in my hand. The real answer is do you prefer scoopage or split pots.

I like 49 if I have to pick because I want to see every flop of every game, and 49 rewards a much wider range of hands than 0 (albeit likely for half the pot). Who wants to fold Preflop? (Maybe those dra2maha guys)

I think he was asking how 6 players all draw 5 (that's 60 cards, without a board). He's assuming the whole table will (or could) draw 5.

I agree with what you are saying about draw (2) maha. That's why I prefer Drawmaha.

I don't know. It isn't me. If I'm playing a drawmaha hand, I'm almost always betting pre if I'm first to act. Have I ever put money in and drew five. Sure, why not!

I like split pot games, so I'll play either. But I prefer split pot games that put on emphasis on scooping. Ones where hands are generally only good at one half or the other feel like a waste of time. But that's coming from the POV of someone that generally wants to maximize profitability.

If you are better at split pot games than your opponents, you want to leverage that edge in games where scooping and quartering happen more often. There is still skill in knowing how to maximize a half, but it's less interesting to me.
