I've been cleaning paulson chips in the dishwasher for a while. Any negative impact?

I’ve seen some damaged inlays from this process (CA Bell Club) but it’s essentially a rumor.

Sounds like it has worked out for you. I would be worried about the heat more than anything.

Might be worth getting an ultrasonic. Or, just some dawn dish soap or Sterlings Magic cleaner and a nail or tooth brush works like a champ. It’s just time consuming AF - lol.

Soak in warm water and dawn for -20 to 30 min and most of it cleans off without too much fuss.

How can that work? If they're in a pile, they're not going to get clean. Unless you're somehow laying them out in a single layer?

Yawl! my chips are fucking flawless while your chips are breeding grounds for disease!

Yes, dude, you lay them out in layers. Use a trey or two

I mean, if the dishwasher has a "warm" or at least a "not hot" setting this could work ...
But yeah I'd be concerned about what's in the detergent.

skipping the detergent and using the warm setting may do a decent job alone. i feel like it would work a lot better if you can arrange them vertically, spaced apart, but i have no thoughts on how to accomplish that off the top of my head.

as someone who washes my baseball hats in the dishwasher, i'm actually shocked there isn't a thread on this already. the reasons for not washing knives in the dishwasher are not directly analogous to poker chips, especially if you are not using detergent.

OP, are you using regular dishwasher detergent? let's see some pics!

I thought this was common PCF practice?

I started during Covid and never stopped.

After every game I run both dishwashers and they fit about 1k chips.

Just buy 200 of these in bulk.

Baseball hats in the dishwasher??? Please do tell! I’ve ruined dozens of hats washing them normally

find a plastic bowl that fits just right inside your hat (open side down if that's not obvious). put that assembly on the top shelf, run as normal, and voila - clean hat! the bowl helps keep the shape and they don't get beat up like they do a washing machine.

i use something like this:

Now do chips! How does that work?

lots of much smaller bowls? and no detergent.

that would actually work great - think a mini-muffin tin caddy-type thing with a grid mesh at the bottom.

And you use regular dishwashing detergent/pods?!

For hats, get you one of these. You put your hat inside and then you can do them in the dishwasher or the washing machine. I've done both with great success and me keep their shape. To avoid creases set them out to dry with it towel balled up inside.
