What to use to trim? I know
@iLogik uses electric scissors.
Although I’m donating mine to my local bar (points) league, I have a pair of
very sharp 8” Gingher brand professional-grade dressmaker fabric scissors that I’ve used on previous neoprene table toppers, speedcloth, felt, foam, etc.
Not cheap at $40 on Amazon and elsewhere last I looked, but they cut like butter and I prefer the control I have vs. electric scissors. And when I say sharp, I mean dangerously sharp, so be careful if you get something similar. I’m pretty sure I could lop off a finger with these if I hit it between the joint.
I make a pattern of the elliptical ends of the table out of printer paper taped together, then transfer that to poster board for more rigidity. Once I cut those out, I lay them on the table and check for fit, then add in the straight sections or even just do the whole table. Then I
flip it over and trace it to the
back side of my fabric or topper using a silver Sharpie (better visibility, but I’ve used red before, too).
Cut out the topper with my scissors, lay it on the Barrington, and do a final trim where needed.
I should have kept the pattern for future use (like for now), but I tossed it last time and I am too busy to do that again right now… hence my donation of these toppers as the league plays on bare folding tables at some locations!
Here’s an old photo of my old poster board pattern and Gingher scissors.
