Hey everyone - excited to be here as a Site Vendor.

I'm Chris, and I run a private tournament club in southern CA called thePokerClub. Over the past 4 years, I've been obsessively tracking what actually moves the needle on attendance and engagement.

Some real numbers:
35% increase in average tournament registrants (11 in Season 1 to 15 in Season 3)
88% reduction in registered player no-shows (24 in Season 1 (12 Events) to 4 in Season 3 (11 Events))

The things that made the biggest difference:
  1. Exclusivity - Private membership rather than a 'player' feel.
  2. A tiered point system - Multiple ways to compete on a season LeaderBoard (finishes, bounties, participation).
  3. Event cadence - Consistent schedule that creates urgency to attend.
  4. Pre-registration - All seats locked 48 hours before event day, no exceptions.
  5. Sponsorships - Local sponsors provide prize overlays adding $200-$300 to First Place for each event.
I've packaged my tools into a set of free resources I'm happy to share:

Season Structures Pack - 40+ examples of time-based and milestone-based point systems.
Payout Matrix - Cash % + LeaderBoard points by player count (10-18+ players).
LeaderBoard Template - Season standings tracker.
Treasury Tracker - Manage your Winners Pool, Championship Pool, and Trophy Pool.
Structure Sheet Template - The one-pager you send members before each event.
Player Scorecard Template - Customizable 18-player scorecard workbook with Summary rollup.

All free. Just tools that have worked for me and processes that have kept my admin low.

I'm here to talk club growth, point systems, attendance problems, payout structures - whatever you're working through. Drop questions in this subforum or DM me anytime.

Bumping this.

Updated Season 3 (Current) average registrants and Player Scorecard Template reference as new add.

This is a great approach - I'm something of a data nerd at my day job, so seeing direction come out of seasons of data is interesting. What formats (MS, GoogleDocs/Sheets) are you using natively?

I tend to the MS products because the companies I've worked for have used them. I also prefer desktop to web for spreadsheets, so Excel is a natural.

I'm Drew - 20 years in the game, but always like to learn - happy to chat anytime if you ever need/want to brainstorm, collab, or just bs.

Chris,
Do you have a set of House Rules you use in your Club? There are so many situations in a self-dealt home game league that aren't covered by the TDA rules I use in my league.

I'm wondering if we need to start a new Resource group for league rules so others who want to start a league aren't starting from scratch, which, for me, was no House Rules at all, which didn't last long!!

Thanks
HK

Because my club is focused on improving tournament play, we use the Rob Ciaffone Tourmament and General Play rules that you can find here https://www.cardplayer.com/rules-of-poker.

what do you do if something happens in the game that isn't covered by these rules?
Haven't come across that kind of situation, but I have been following what happened at your game as you described it. Would approach it the same way.

Bumping this.

Added Sponsorships to the running list of things that have been instrumental for my club growth and player engagement.

SeasonStack facilitates paid sponsorships from local businesses. Prize overlays provided by these sponsorships add ~$200-$300 to First Place.

This was long term part of my plan as we have a 20% Winners Pool contribution from each event pot so this works to offset that.
