Hi fellows,

It's all in the title :)

I have loved cards since childhood, all types of cards, which inevitably explains, at least in part, the shift towards multiple card games, especially poker, and by extension chip collecting.

I've been a serious One Piece Cardgame collector for over two years.
To a lesser extent, I also collect other TCGs like Dragon Ball vintages collections and some Fusion World, Magic Secret Lair and a bit of Pokemon.
My preference goes for the One Piece cards and their amazing arts, huge diversity of textures and details.
I mainly collect individual cards in Japanese (cheaper) but I do all of my case and box break on the US version. I also have a large collection of sealed boxes.

The recent hype, especially around OP US cards, has caused quite a stir in the collecting world, and you may have heard about it, or even jumped on the bandwagon.

Are there any of the chips magnates here on PCF who share this same (equally all-consuming and expensive :bigbucks: o_O) passion/hobby?

I'd love to see what you've collected, and perhaps discuss the current and future state of the market, which is going completely crazy :wtf:

Please share your experiences and collections here !!

I had a fairly large sealed pokemon collection that I just liquidated over the last year (traded some for some chips!) I still have some lesser sealed stuff, but I decided I had had enough of the chaos surrounding it.

I do like One Piece, though! I’m nearly current on the anime.

I was into it a bit in the mid- 90's.
I was more into bulk. Just like chips. :cool

It is all bottom shelf stuff now.
Did not empty the closet until just last year. Needed more room for chips :p.
Still doing inventory on and off.

Big Pokémon enjoyer here. Have a decent sized card collection, but it’s a little too expensive for me to grow it atm. I’ll snag some pictures from storage soon.

As a big One Piece manga & anime fan, I’m loving the tcg art. Those and the LOTR mtg set have been my favorite tcg cards of recent.

Just a casual box of Legends in the corner.... Hell of a pic there!

I've been playing MTG off and on since that set came out. Originally, I focused on Alpha cards, building all-Alpha decks when that was the only way to play them competitively. I've sold a lot off over the years now, but still have a pretty decent collection of mostly old school cards, and found I really dug Amy Weber Artist Proofs, so spent years picking those up trying to build playable decks out of them.

If anyone wants to trade their chips for old school MTG cards, let me know. I have a lot more cards than I do chips, and right now am enjoying the chipping more.

Old school MTG definitely had something to it. I never got into it, but it’s hard to deny how cool it was.

I had dropped off the RPG/Board game map for a couple years to focus on work and career, but briefly returned because an old gaming friend of mine invited me to travel with him to GENCON 1994, and I had not taken a vacation for over two years.

Little did I know I would be standing over the shoulders of the two finalists in the very 1st MTG main event.
I wonder if there are any pics of that somewhere out there.

Empty. Unfortunately, I did not buy 6+ of those, which eventually became my norm.
I had already missed the year prior when all the first run (now big buck) cards were released, and thinking then that buying them by the box was outright nuts.
Same with my 1st chip sets. :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:
The shelf pic above is all empty cartons (I kept one of each). All up in a garbage bag in the attic until last year.

There are seven more shelves full unopened boxes & five more binders, and on the side 10+ bulk card containers. :wtf:
No pics. I don't want to derail this thread any further, but will keep watching. :tup:

OK, just one:

I'm 300 episodes behind and I don't know if I'll ever catch up. This series is truly colossal. And meanwhile, I'm getting spoiled by the One Piece TCG cards; it's awful :cry:

Lotr mtg is a real banger, I agree. I bought some premium boosters when it came out, but not enough... and now, the €1000+ booster box and the €2500 holiday édition is not reasonable :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Wow :wow: You guys are not jocking !

I bought 2 boxes of EB-03 :ninja:
Were you able to get them at a reasonable price? I was able to pre-order a case of 12 booster boxes, but only in French, which, even though it's my native language, doesn't exactly thrill me.

I’ve been casually on/off with Pokémon for many years, currently off. The whole scene has become borderline scary, with robberies, scams and grifts.

Kept one ***Sealed*** Evolving Skies battle stadium box just in case. Unfortunately for me I should have poured every last dollar I had at them lol

I still enjoy the culture of TCG but the money has grubbied it a bit.

I haven’t heard of One Piece but it sounds cool after the little research I just did!

I was a big MTG player on and off over the years, started while Legends was still available in stores…had no idea how cool of a time it was haha

I remember giving away dual lands because they weren’t in my colors and didn’t seem all that valuable haha

I thought about making a chipset revolving around the moxes:

pearl = white $1
ruby = red $5
emerald = green $25
jet = black $100
sapphire = blue $500
lotus = multicolored $1k

….and I was envisioning text on each chip kinda like a magic card. Maybe “sacrifice this chip to change the TV channel” or “sacrifice this chip to change setups” lol

I don’t collect cards, but love pinball. Just an FYI, stern has just released a Pokémon Pinball machine. Check it out, looks pretty cool. The PCF of the pinball world is called pinside.com. But you can also just YouTube it or go to the stern site.

A power-inspired chip set? I love that idea!

When Yu-Gi-Oh premiered back in 2002 / 2003, I ran the tournaments that we had at the local comic book store for a few years. It got pushed to the wayside, as some hobbies do, as more important life events took place. Came back to it for another couple years from '07 - '09 and then dropped it all.

The realization started to dawn on me then that the ban lists Konami implemented were just a means to get players to buy newly released sets as they had no intent on actually balancing the game at all. When I see what the game is now, it makes me sad.

Not a collector, but stumbled on a big bag of classic Pokemon sets from 1999. They were priced insanely high; if not for the money it would've been a blast opening them but we just couldn't do it. We had already planned to have a kid and the nostalgia wasn't worth losing thousands.

Made me very happy, sold them at a local card store and people gathered around like I had just brought in dinosaur bones.

I have this screen shot that I look at every now and then and just cry.

I missed that. Very cool find!

A few years ago, my mom cleaned out her garage and brought me a two card albums she found. One had all my Jordans from when I was a kid (except for his rookie, which always stayed with me) and the other had a bunch of Magic cards I'd completely forgotten about, but was full of Mox Diamonds, Sliver Queens, and hundreds of Lotus Petals. That was a great day!

Also, I think what might just be the forum's first card for chip set trade just happened.

Quite the opposite, unfortunately. :cry:

I've gotten into Disney Lorcana at the end of 2024, My obsession has waned since then, but I rip every now and then

Same trajectory as you. I opened a few boxes from editions 1 and 2 and then my interest steadily declined.
