This is my first poker chip set, which I received for Christmas from my Dad about 30 years ago. They are hot stamped with denomination ($1, $5, $10) on one side and my initials on the other side. I was perhaps a little disappointed when I received them, because in my head I wanted a set of Paulson THC when I mentioned them as a Christmas gift idea. I only had to wait about 25 more years before that dream would come true.

30 years ago…those would have been top quality chips! We had plastic diamond chips in 1995 in college and thought they were amazing. My buddy found out about ASM clay chips in 2001 from an article in an airplane magazine called “gifts for he guy who has everything”. Me and three others ordered sets and thought we were the shit 😂 At that time I had not clue you could buy Paulson or THC

I learned you could buy Paulson’s at the young age of 50. That was last spring, when I joined. 🤣🤣 I remember the first set of dice chips I had hot stamped to “customize” like it was yesterday. I think my wife only tossed them out via a garage sale maybe ten years ago. I know my son played with them as a toddler in board games, math games, making chip pyramids, etc.

Those look like they are Langworthy chips, which have a long history in the chip manufacturing business.
They look like they have great sentimental importance, which makes them way more valuable than Paulsons, imo.
Enjoy them!

In 1996 I would have thought Dice chips were amazing. BTW, I think i originally ordered my ASMs from a paper catalogue. I did email artwork and conversed with them that way…but I also remember calling on the phone to get delivery updates! The first batch I ordered took 6 months. The second a year later took 4 months

I think my dad went to a fair amount of trouble to get me these chips. When I asked for a set of poker chips, I had no idea that Paulsons or any casino grade chip wasn't cheaply available to the general public.

Exactly so. I'll have these chips forever.
