Deckmate 1 Guide (8 Viewers)

Is the original part available to source instead of doing the upgrade?
The original is obsolete but I was able to find a replacement on eBay. I’ll report back if there are persisting issues.

Haven't run into the sensor error since swapping it out. However, I haven't been able to use my DM very much since changing it.

I’m interested in getting one of these. I may table mount it, but would like to have a cabinet option too. I the ikea cabinet is popular…my question is why is such a big cabinet needed? Air circulation, weight? I don’t have a lot of room around the table so would be looking for as compact a solution as possible

Thanks

Mine doesn't get hot at all. Size of cart is your choice but imagine stability is the largest factor for size.

I always tell these guys air circulation is great. They usally ignore me but I havent heard anyone have issues for overheating. If it was me I would for sure add a vent and fan but I'm pretty extra....

I used a couple of these. They're really inexpensive given the alternatives or custom making one. I flipped it upside down, cut a hole through the (now) top and added 1" casters so it rolls. Never had an issue with overheating/air circulation. The door has enough gap for fresh air to pass through, at least for me.

Keep in mind the backside of the cabinet will be bare chip board. I bought adhesive vinyl backing paper in black wood grain (also very inexpensive) to cover it up and make it look uniform.

Apparently the link I posted is now unavailable, but I had a little side table that was really not much bigger than the deckmate itself. Stability was for sure an issue since the deckmate is really heavy, but for the 3 months I used it I never actually had it tip over.
If you want an absolute compact solution, I'll pull up a similar item and link it.

i did a build/hack job this week for a game last night. took the cushion off an old barstool, encased it with plywood and honestly for spending zero dollars and spare wood it turned out pretty good.. started thursday night and the game was last night.

i ended up spray painting it black and added some sound absorbing panels i had laying around inside (never got a picture of those)

it sure is a hack job and needs more work but it worked great last night.

oh i did get a picture of the foam… like I said definitely a hack job just tried to get something together quickly for the game last night. It needs some serious sanding, Bondo, etc. to actually look nice, but I made it work.

At first, I wasn’t getting the barstool, but now I see!

Thank you for this amazing thread. Although, is there any guide/video for how to change/replace the rollers
So funny you mention this. I just spoke to someone about this recently. I will probably try to make a video next month or the month afterwards when I get time.

I have chairs like this in my kitchen and just noticed the cutout template fits almost perfectly under the seat. 🤔

You may have stumbled on a cool solution. I personally wouldn’t even bother with the sides…

yeah, the sides were my friends idea. i was happy with just the top. i plan to add some cup holders on the side and a mag safe charger eventually.

I just ordered a chair off Amazon😂. Going to see if it works. I bought the IKEA cabinet but it’s still unopened. Based in the pics above it’s going to be an impediment in my gaming area

I’m trying to find the name of my chairs too. If this template printed correctly the unit might slide right in with little too no modifications. I could take one but the wife may get angry😂
