Based off a golf course in my home town of Rancho Cucamonga that was designed by Arnold Palmer. They tore it down and put some apartments. Pretty lame.

Wanted to make something based off the 'empire lakes' name being that's where I really fell in love with golf. Our area is also called 'inland empire' so ties in with the home touch. Our city is close to a bunch of natural forests and mountains so wanted to mix the 2 ideas.

Here's a couple quick rough ideas. One says Alta Loma, and one says Rancho Cucamonga. Now I live in a small town that's on the border of Rancho and Alta Loma. It's pretty much the same, but wanted to switch up to Alta Loma to change the symmetry a bit. Not trying to be a golf label necessarily but did one quick idea with golf pin. Focusing more on the mountain views of the city and the 'empire lakes' name.

Any ideas or input is welcome, just on starting phase right now. Thanks!

1st is the cleanest / most timeless design - winner for me.
I wonder about the 2nd, if the "Empire Lakes" from the first wrapped along the bottom (moved denoms to the middle, like the 1st too).
3rd has 1 or 2 too many lines of text, IMO.

Regardless, nice work on creating 3 separate labels that all are pretty high quality.

I immediately liked the first one the most, but I’m partial to clean and simple designs. Also the first one kind of has a pyramid design which is reminiscent of their logo. Maybe make the mountains blue as well? Otherwise I think it’s nice as it is

Test print at the correct inlay dimensions, I think the fine print on the last one will be unreadable, perhaps the top as well.

I like the bottom the best, but the shoreline on the left and wave to it are distracting and I think won’t be well seen at the correct size. But I like it at the color.

Yeah I wanted a simple/clean option. This has been the one I keep going back to, Im just not sure if I want to murder some chips for such a basic design lol.

I like the idea about the second one. I will try that and post it on here after I mess with it.

I think there is possibilities with that layout, I just feel like I haven't really cracked it yet. Yes im worried about font being small too, I try to zoom out to "chip level" to test it every now and then.

1st one by far. Are you against adding a flagstick?

Not sure where it would make sense on the first? I could take off the "sun" behind the mountains and maybe try adding one coming from behind the mountains?

I was thinking something similar to the OG logo

For the chips colours and edge spots themselves, I’d do something “golf related”. I was thinking something like a standard Red, White, Blue for golf flags and then Green for…grass…lol

If you don’t care about traditional colours I think it’d be fun to do:

25¢ - Red (short pin)
$1 - White (middle)
$5 - Blue (back)
$20 - Green

Ive tried recreating it a few times, and Im not really loving it to much. If you just mean as far as doing the flag on my current design though, I could possibly try it. Kind of how its inverted through the mountain and back to black above the mountain.

Honestly, such a good idea wow. Hadn't even thought of that! I have most except for a good blue chip. That could be a possibility.

Something like this?

When making custom chips I love the idea of using progression in the value of chips to reinforce the theme in some way. And to many it could be subtle and even missed, like a nice little easier egg :)

Curious to see how the final turns out! I’m a big golf fan so I’m excited to see the final product.

I think if you did a flag version I’d want to see a green and a lake in front of the mountains somehow, that is if you really wanted to sell the golf theme

I'm not sure I do to be honest. I like a subtle nod, I just think once I start introducing a green and water everyone's mind instantly goes to Dunes chips ha. Also, with this label I like the simplicity of just black graphics and red denom. I may try it though, just to see.

I agree on the dunes part for sure lol. The reason I would personally want a green and lake is that (I know it’s just a rough version) but to me the flag seems out place/random in that version.

Have fun playing around with it!

I like what you've got so far! I like the first original label the best. One thing I would note is to use up more of the inlay space. There is a lot of space on the outside and I think if you scaled everything up a little to fill that, it would be better. I think adding the flag onto the mountains feels out of place. I like the idea of having the mountains with the golf and maybe some forest as that seems to be what you are looking for. I also like this color scheme:

I did a very quick mock up of a design that maybe you can pull some ideas from. It also ties in the golf course logo some. Maybe centering the denom and wraping the text around the bottom will help it avoid being too similar to dunes chips

Adjusted some proportions and put them on some chip options I have available. Curious for thoughts of the line up. 5 and 20 would be faux shaped inlay.

If any designers see this and want to take a stab at what they think would work, I'd be more than happy to pay. DM me and let me know :)

I don't love it, I liked the previous better.

Maybe make the mountains taller and then move the flag to the right and have a green wave/mound under it?

Just got some chips in, If we reverse the order and go “backwards” this could be a cool line up and would be standard colors and not trip out my ocd ha.

25c, $1, $5, $20/25

Those are some nice chips! And the $1 workhorse having all 4 of the "main" colours is *Chefs Kiss* to me.

And if you want a cheesy story behind it, then order they are in now are just tee box markers:
Blues (low HDCP)
Whites (standard/average)
Reds (Beginners/most Ladies)
Greens (or fairway tees lol)

aaannnd the amount of chips by denom/colour in a set is probably proportional to real life lol.

I like it!

Would love to see how this goes. Lived in Rancho my whole life and had great times at Empire Lakes GC!!
