I understand that Paulson no longer produces custom chips for individual/home users (?). What are the top 5 comparable (or maybe even better?) chip manufacturing companies? And what is the typical price for their Paulson-like chips? I am going to work on a long-term project to design and order a 1000-1500 chip set, but not too crazy about paying $2500+ for a Paulson set. Any and all help is highly appreciated.

Classic Poker Chips is the only company offering anything close.

Not much choice for consumers I'm afraid.

There is only one... CPC (Classic Poker Chips... formerly ASM). Here is a link to their pricing calculator.

Don't follow up with "there has to be more" or " that can't be"... it is.

You did state "Paulson like." There are other manufacturers that produce "ceramic" chips. But these are not Paulson like.

But that can't be!!.. Just kidding!

Thank you for the links...

What are some of the best designed chips on this forum, manufactured by CPC? any thoughts on how has been the general experience of people ordering form them?

Thanks again...

unless you are sticking with solids or level 1 spot colors I don't think this is a reality if you are planning on 1500 chips. Especially since CPC has had at least 2 maybe 3 price increase since they reopened their doors 2 years ago.

or a set of CPCs, for that matter.....

High-end chips are, well, high-end..... re: expensive.

I guess I have to get used to the fact that high-end chips will cost $2-3+/chip and it's the new reality of life :(

That's actually a cheap price for a big set of nice Paulson's (y)

i think 1000 chip Paulson set can be had for $2500..I have seen a few around.

:( ... sounds like it... I thought that Paulson's had become expensive due to 'rarity' and the fact that the company stopped production. And given decent chips can be had for $0.50-$0.75/chip, assumed Paulson-like chips from another manufacturer can be had for $1/chip, but I am way off :(

Depending on your breakdown, there's definitely good cash chip options in the world of casino used Paulsons at that price or less. Mint casino or home Paulsons might give you a bit more trouble, if that's what you're looking for.

Our home game is a $5/$10 cash game, so I will be looking for 5/25/100/1000 denominations.

Paulson or someone else will come into the home market at some point. When people are paying $3 a chip, how could they not. It's inevitable.

I will bet significant money we don't see this happen within 5 years. Escrow required.

I am genuinely surprised others have not. But I think it's just a matter of time, similar to what has happened in the plaques market, where the very high prices has spurred new entrants. I can't imagine Asian suppliers not being able to make high quality chips at $1-$1.50/chip, retail, with high margin and profitability.

Paulson bought BCC and shut down all home orders for both companies, in part to reassure their large casino clients that their product was more secure. TRK seems unwilling to sell anything to new buyers. PGI bought equipment for making compression molded chips, and couldn't make it work. ASM sold to new owners, and they were unable to make chips work at the same quality as the original ASM was making, and they sold off their equipment at what appears to be a huge loss.

This is old technology made with old equipment and secret formulas. It is labor intensive and difficult to do well. The home market willing to support $3/chip prices just isn't that big. I would bet significant money on there being no new option within 5 years.

You made the ceramic plaques right? Why don't you go the similar route with the chips? You can mock up any spot you want, and it'll under $1 per. If you want high end though, be prepared to spend for it.

Yes, the plaques are a great addition...but I am not a big fan of ceramic chips

Ahh ok. I would suggest hunting blanks down then for a relabling project. Otherwise, it's CPC and $$$-$$$$ for "Paulson like" chips.

I like Matsui. Well, it's not Paulson like about cool chips and if you use the inner ring system the price is really good.

Agree! I have a ton of Paulsons, but I really like Matsuis - completely different style, though. BGs are nicer yet, but they're GPI with Paulson. No small orders. A Matsui group buy would be awesome!

It has been a while...

Matsui chips are pretty, but actually playing with them sucks. Pass.

What we need is that German-based Stralka chip company to make a reappearance. Today's market prices may be enough to overcome the difficulties they previously encountered.

Are they plastic?

Matsui chips are slick plastic. Stralka chips are a hard clay-like material.
