Fournier vs. Dal Negro (17 Viewers)

I can‘t feel a difference in these two decks, except the Dal Negros got slightly rounder corners.

Both amazing cards!

Their stock seems to be pretty similar, if not the same.
Any one made the same experience or got more info about?

I bought a few european set ups and received in June. I’ve put the Fournier EPT into play and Fournier Poker playing into play so far out of these (both show as 2818 on the Ace of Spades)

I liked the feel of these so far. I’ve not used the Dal Negro Texas ones yet, so pulled them out beside a new deck of Fournier 2818s and did some side by side quick shuffles.

The only obvious thing that stood out is the side of the stump on the Dal Negro’s felt rougher than the Fourniers, which was completely smooth.

Dal Negro - not sure if the blade was duller, but could visually see and feel where they had cut. When I shuffled could feel the difference on the side:

Whereas the Fourniers were completely smooth/ no obvious ridges:

Doubt many beyond some chip and card nerds would notice the difference, however the fourniers did feel more ‘premium’ as a result for me.

Fournier and Dal Negro are my top two card manufacturers and have been for several years.

I haven't noticed a big difference between the two beyond Dal Negro being a bit "snappier" when shuffled. Maybe their card stock is a little more stiff than Fournier? I haven't done a side-by-side comparison or a proper flex test to say for sure beyond my memory.

If you happen to be sensitive to strong scents, the Dal Negro cards to have a pretty strong PVC smell right out of the wrapper, and it doesn't seem to go away quickly either. A washing might take care of that, but I haven't had a need to clean the Dal Negro cards I have to see if that helps or not. (The scent doesn't bother me and nobody in my group has mentioned or complained about it).


@Kam, I haven't noticed those strange cut marks on my Dal Negro cards, but I also haven't looked for them either. You're going to make me check now! I wonder if those might be from a lot when the cutting blades needed a sharpening?

Yeah, could just be that one batch, assume they would need to resharpen/ maintain the blades - but does suggest as least Fournier might have better controls and inspections etc. Only noticeable when you square up/get ready to shuffle and I was focusing on the details. I’ll use these in my next home game - wonder if it’ll smooth out after a night of play and bad shuffling.

Interesting observation!
I checked on my Dal Negros and they don‘t got these ‚scratches‘ on the side.
They got the same ‚premium‘ feel that you mentionned.

Don‘t know if it worth to send them from Ger to Italy?
