Green Valley Ranch poker room reopening (2 Viewers)

After all the Vegas poker room closures over the last decade it's nice to see a re-opening! Hopefully it's the start of a trend.

I never thought it would reopen but I'm happy it is returning since it will be the closest room & only 5 mins to get there. 🤑

That is awesome news. My sister has a townhome that my parents were going to retire to across from the GVR and when I used to go Vegas that is where I stayed. I used to go play poker at the GVR everyday when I visited Vegas. They usually had 2-4 tables going and I remember a Sunday morning tourney. It was next to the Sportsbook. There was one local an older Chinese guy who played there everyday and I saw him whenever I went and he always cracked me up. The townhouse is now leased since my dad passed and my mom can’t travel to Vegas any longer.. But when I go to Vegas next I’d go back to the GVR to play poker even though not a lot of tables going on at once.. The last time me and my wife went to the GVR we sat at a $5 Black Jack table because my wife wanted me to teach her how to play live. My wife started with $30 and I started with $50. Another couple and their friend we didn’t know any of them sat down also. The 5 of us sat down and played for 4 hours and during that time the dealer maybe won 4 or 5 hands. A lot of 21s were dealt. I kept increasing my bets as we kept winning. My wife only bet $5 or $10 and that was Ok for me. In the end I walked away about +$1550 and my wife about +$300 the other people won a bunch too. They kept trying to switch dealers a lot, but our luck kept holding up. All 5 of us left at the same time as we had to all leave and the new dealer won a few hands. My wife and I went to the Mirage for Dinner and had like and hour and a half before the show LOVE(Beatles) was starting. So my wife says to me why don’t you play some more blackjack while you are up. I then sat down at like a $15 table for the next hour and raked in over $900. that was probably one of my greatest days on the Blackjack table and starting with only $50. Usually I’d start with a few hundred and never have I seen $5 tables on the east coast. Those local Station casinos are the best. The meal prices they give for the locals on the buffets can’t be beat. $10 for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It was good stuff not like the Buffet Cousin Eddie brought Clark Griswold to.

Yeah, the 2 sharp looking $5s in the second barrel were the best I saw all day and those had flea bites. Room ran out of $1 chips about 2 hours after opening and dealers were scrambling to get 40 or 60 for a fill. $2 chips not being used at all.

@StevenB88 took them all  :ROFLMAO:

Someone harvest the $2s. They’d make great relabeled $1s. Racks and racks in stacks and stacks

I did that when they first came out. Hard to harvest being at Pai Gow only and surprisingly took awile for me to sell a rack. The condition is not as nice now also.

Wasn't this the site of the $1s repainted as $100s?

EDIT: Yep!

One of my favorite Vegas documentaries on Vegas cheats. He did very little Jail time for what he did. I also love the one where the guys did the decades of slot cheating where he invented numerous devices to defeat the slot machines. Very interesting especially where he took his light want device and through it all the way across the casino floor and they couldn't prove the device was his.
