With The Cromwell closing at the end of the year I was wondering if these chips will become desirable, like how everyone went nuts for the Tropicana chips as it shut its doors? I know The Cromwell chips are the horrendous Icon chips (I don’t think they ever jumped on the Paulson hotstamp bandwagon like the rest of the strip).
Just something that crossed my mind and was wondering what others thought about it?

Btw, does anyone know the logic of why Nevada forces chips to be destroyed? So many place allow resale of worthless chips. Why is Nevada so stingy?
It’s a regulatory agency. No logic, no rhyme, no reason, it is how it is because that’s how it is now.

Not related, but last week on a cruise ship we were playing a tournament and deciding a starting dealer. Most people are used to a cards dealt and high card would be where the button would start. However the dealer wanted to start it in the #1 seat automatically - not a big deal. But some players complained. So the floor came over. The ruling was
“The button starts on the #1 seat because that’s where the button is”. Logic at its finest.

I start every game at seat 1. Gives me a place to set up the decks and the button. Almost feels silly to take the time for a draw if it can be done before the first person sits. Tournament seating is random, so there's that random factor already settled. In a cash game, first to sit can pick the button of furthest from, while later arrivals get a better view when deciding who they want position on.

It actually is logic at it's finest. I'm surprised a cruise ship did it, as their card rooms are notoriously bad.

Military approach hahaha!

Yeah, I was fine with it, but there were a couple of players who “knew the rules”.

The clock wasn’t running yet so I didn’t care what they did, I was on a cruise ship at a poker table drinking free drinks. It’s gotta start somewhere is what I figure.

So does anyone have hope for the first Vanderpump issue?
This has moved my brain onto a new thought…
With the Icon chips being so disliked I bet very few have been removed from the casino, compared to RTHC or house mold Paulsons. Does this mean the new Vanderpump chips might be more likely to be Icon again? I assume chips not being harvested is better for the casino?

Is chips being harvested actually a bad thing for the casino? I assume they pay less than face value for their chips, so if they are harvested never to return, the casino pockets the difference. They should be happy we harvest? No?

At one time casinos basically promoted harvesting with promotional chips. They were typically $5 or $25 so they definitely made money on those. Pretty much every dealer I've ever asked was happy to look for and sell me a nice $1 chip.

I remember seeing an old Chipco ad in a casino trade magazine that touted the profitability of their promotional chips and the ease and detail with which they could be made.

Does it matter to them? Are they obligated to set aside the money for a potential future redemption? It may not have the value to them that we think.

I think that all chips below $5 are 100% loss for the casino and that is why there is no $1 anniversary chip.

I'm surprised no one has posted these cool chips yet.
