Intended games are a mix of:

1/2 300 cap
5/5 1k cap
2/2/5 PLO 500 cap

8-9 handed max, with dedicated dealer. Now I'm wondering if I should just do 2/2 400 cap and swap the $1s for $2s... better for dealer tips and better to make the game play bigger.

200 $1 or $2 chips
600 $5 chips = 3k
300 $25 chips = 7.5k
100 $100 chips = 10k
25 $1000 chips = 25k

total bank 45.7k, total chips 1225. swapping $1s for $2s makes that 45.9k. Chips will be Tinas. Wondering if 25k of my 46k bank in big chips is a mistake.

Forgot to give example player chip distribution for the 5/5. For 1k BI, 40 $5s, 20 $25s, 3 $100s gives us 63 chips per player.

Honestly given the stake ; you could buy two racks of $1 an two racks $2.

Personally I don't think you need $1k chips; just get more $100s.

What's your average buy in for a night?

for the 5/5, assume most will buy in between 500-1k and be good for 3 bullets. For smaller games, thinking the same 1-3 bullets or 4-5 min BI bullets

No love for the Apache 2800 - 700 chip (nearly $8200) breakdown?

Read both when I joined. Think they are really good pieces. Just want to set up my bank to work for games with 2k-3k on the table and games with 30k on the table. I imagine the "workhorse chip" will be the $5 but don't want to overload the table with too many of them in play. Also don't want people constantly having to make change and slow the game down.

Question:
  1. Is rake leaving the table?
  2. Is dealer coloring up tips to $5 or $25 before pulling off table?
  3. Is there straddles?
  4. In $5/$5 will you force the $5 tip or use $1s that don’t play as singles but multiple of $5s will play all-in? Doesn’t affect breakdown much but something to consider.
I’m the guy that always thinks:
  1. 100 of smallest denom in NL/PL games is enough (provided dealer colors up and no rake). 160 not enough if dealer isn’t coloring up tips and there’s rake.
  2. It’s too many $5s. Even as a workhorse in a full ring 200 chips is fine. 300 if you want stacks. 1 drunk guy that always bets and calls with the smallest chips he has will slow the game to a crawl.
At $1-$2 NLHE the $5 is a workhorse at the other games the $25 is doing a lot of work.

In PLO game even 2-2-5 if there’s a straddle and a preflop raise the $5s won’t see more action than the $25s.

I think the size of the bank is generally fine. With only 100 x $100 in play coloring up $1ks can be cumbersome AND if all the $100 are on the table then rebuys become cumbersome. As cool as $1k chips are I’d get a $500s instead.

Great questions.

1. I think so. Likely $5/hand or $8-10/hh in time.
2. Undecided on whether to have a dealer bank or have the house handle rebuys/color ups, but they’ll likely be coloring their tips as they go.
3. Likely yes.
4. Will likely have smaller denoms for tips but they will play in increments of $5 for all ins.

For 200 reds, that’s only 2 racks or one barrel per person with one in reserve - at the casino 1/3 I see easily 2k on the table in reds which I agree is too much, but don’t want 2/2 players to have $50 in reds and $300 in higher denoms - maybe that’s a me problem lol

Point taken on preferring $500s to 1ks, just something about the mental math of how much I have in stack with multiple 500s is harder for me than 1ks. But they are likely the better chip.

Thanks for a very thorough response.
