I know that this might have been mentioned on one of the first pages of this thread but the communication is email based alone correct? The vast majority of smart phone users only check email quite intermittently compared to the attention given to text messaging. I’ve successfully managed my weekly game for years exclusively using text messages. It takes a hot minute to copy and pasted the details to the initial 9 players being considered. If I had to wait to hear back after these folks checked email and replied to me I might lose my mind. I can seat a table, including going to my waitlist within an hour. I hope text messaging becomes part of this. If not same old same old, which works BTW.

Date is set to Euro format (dd/mm/yyyy). It would be nice to switch it to US date display (mm/dd/yyyy) in the settings.

EDIT: FWIW, a date displayed as "8 July 2026" is fine, but "08/07/2026" is August 7th to Americans, not July 8th.

It sound like you need to try out club-PKR | PRO. This provides the option to sent out notifications via TEXT/SMS. DM me when you get a moment and I'll help setup your account.

Regarding the mobile app, provided your members/players have installed and set up the mobile app, they’ll get notifications about upcoming games via the app.

So what's next for the club-PKR mobile app?

Now that the app is officially launched, the next step is to implement and updated UI, I'd like a cleaner look and feel. I’m aiming to roll out this update within the next 3 to 4 weeks, though I still need to finalize a few design elements and complete testing.
 
Quick question - In your opinion, how essential is instant messaging for an app like this?

You should definitely give PRO a try then as it wouldn't require your players or members to download the app.

On the SMS side, I had a similar thought a couple of days ago, hence today's question about the feature. I may end up removing it, but I’ll see what the feedback looks like over the coming weeks and months.

I agree with this. I tried an app a while ago and it didn't take. It was the Band app. Back to text messaging. I've tried Invitetracker but it was email and not as successful as well.

Got the app downloaded, but setting up the pro account is now saying invalid user name. Let me know as we would love to use your app for our monthly tourney!

Minor Collection Update to PRO
  • All emails refreshed with updated data points and corrected links
  • Bug Fix: Users can now invite new club members without issues
  • Club member invitation email now includes the club’s contact name
  • Dashboard Update: Key functions remain disabled until a club is selected

Instant messaging (text v. some sort of communication thru a downloaded app) is everything. Real time communication is essential to an app like this.

So to recap: email communication bad, downloaded app bad.

Text messaging still King so unless an app can help with managing text communications and serves some other management purpose, texting will always continue to reign supreme.
 
This might be a stupid question, but is it possible to use text messaging that appears in the app if you have it, but as a standard text message if you don't have the app?

I realize the point is to get as many people as possible to DL the app, but it would be nice to be have that connectivity, even if you don't have the app.

Appreciate the feedback @merkong

This is where club-PKR | PRO comes in. One of it's key features is the ability to invite Guest players (those who dont have access to the app) to your private games. At present the invite is sent out via email, with the option to notify players of the email via text.

The challenge I’m facing involves the available methods for sending SMS messages. Currently, there are four common approaches:
  1. Sending directly from a mobile phone
  2. Using an email-to-SMS gateway
  3. Sending through a basic / low cost API
  4. Signing up to a third-party service such as Twilio
At the moment, I’m using the API option, it's cheap and fairly easy to use. The main limitation is that this particular API does not support including links/URLs in the message. Having links is important, as it would allow recipients to respond directly to invitations — which is the functionality I’m aiming for and is a feature currently available via the email method.

To enable links, I need to contact the API’s developers and make a case for why URL support is necessary. Unfortunately, the API owners have been slow to respond, so I’m now exploring more reliable alternatives — with Twilio being one of the leading options.

Na, not a stupid question at all.

PRO is being developed to give you that level of flexibility.
 
Continuing our discussion on SMS invitations, I have a new update.

As I mentioned earlier, I’m currently unable to include links directly in SMS messages. This will eventually change once I partner with Twilio, but realistically that won’t be happening soon—I first need the platform to demonstrate its value first.

In the meantime, I’ve developed what I believe is a solid workaround.

SMS invitations will now include a unique Invitation Code. Players / recipients can use this code on the club-PKR website to retrieve their invitation and respond to the invite.
