Of course, the seller can ask. And the buyer can say no, a deal is a deal.
Asking after the sale might damage the seller's reputation. But that is their choice.
It isn't as cut and dried as it might appear. There are going to be times when a buyer fleeces a sucker. And when the sucker figures out he got taken advantage of, he might complain. Even so far as to ask for extra compensation. Who's reputation is at stake then? The new guy who got rooked by the sharp or the member of dubious distinction who took advantage of the rookie.

I’ve been banned from here due to my outspokenness on flippers. I think the whole transactional aspect of things here blows, I don’t think to date I’ve made a penny on a transaction.
That doesn’t change the fact that most of the responses you got here are bullshit, that this is not a dibs only classified type place, and that this thread is not a good look.
It sucks for you, but consider yourself lucky. It’s a cheap learning experience that this place isn’t all friends and fun. People usually just don’t create posts over these types of situations.
Pro tip: next time just post a slightly more veiled post in https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/things-that-are-bullsh-t.12105/page-179 on your experience. The admins led you astray with their suggestion to do this.

I went to admins as i didn't know the right protocol in addressing an issue like this (since it isn't addressed anywhere else). But I don't expect you to understand my motivations since you're not in my shoes.
At the end of the day, he can make it "right" by simply selling me the 60 chips for $240 and it's all good or not, and become another chip pariah.
Either way, life goes on and I save $240 that I didn't really need to spend

Pretty shitty move. And the old guard stomping on new members is extremely short sited. Without new members, all things die. Including Forums. But, I’d simply not do business with the guy going forward. And I’m not speaking hypothetically. This is a real life choice I recently made, myself. Take the lumps. Move on. Fuck em. 98% of the people here are awesome! That’s a significantly higher percentage than the population at large, so I’ll happily take it.

Offer+acceptance=closed deal.
Instead, it sounds like the seller was soliciting offers, so he could choose which offer to accept. That's not a For Sale ad, and shouldn't be allowed in the For Sale subforum.
