I saw this chip and thought it would make a fun little set.

Some ducks for feedback. I didn’t really like the gradient from the inspiration so just kept it plain. Comments welcome.

Rubber Ducky theme would be sweet. For the $100 you could make the ducky like a bandito.......holding some pistolas pointed at you!! Tons of options there with some of these creative designers found here. If you keep the Waterfowl theme...change the .25 to a teal or something & the $1 chip to a Pintail........Not the Aflac duck and rubber ducky. There's no flow with those. My opinions only.

Awesome Idea!

I’m a waterfowler, whilst I agree the Chinese Crested Wood Duck is the most beautiful in the whole world… they are not huntable and people raise them in cages and put little pins in their head to kill them So people can get them Mounted for their trophy rooms…

If you’re not aware of them this guy is my favorite, you can hunt them… but better save up!

The Harlequin! So beautiful, would love to see him worked into that long up with the color options.

I absolutely love the rubber duck, just the right amount of Humor!!

Those chips don't chirp, they quack! The rubber duck is very nice, would continue in the same vein while maintaining chip to head color match.

That's the one in The Wild Robot movie! Looked weird to me, didn't know it existed for real.

Thanks!

Funny you should mention Harlequins! He was in my set originally as the $5, but felt too fancy with the increasingly ornate ducks.

That being said, maybe this works?

Dirty stack potential?

As someone who has spent the majority of my freetime in the fall in a duck or goose blind these speak to me. I believe that inspirational chip came from Ducks Unlimited sets that were sold at auctions. The one $1 chip just seems out of place. I want to switch that to a blue chip with a Blue Winged Teal. Whatever you do, good luck on your journey.

Edit to add: that $5 chip is absolutely BOMB!!

Thanks for the feedback!

I get it - domesticated farm vs more wild.

Had a play with 2 other $1s

I need to play with the teal one more. It feels like a color scheme I do with a lots of my sets. Needs some tweaking. I like the attitude of the ruddy duck. Might have considered him for the $5.

Thoughts?

Also - not my photo - but that ducks unlimited set looks amazing

I like Ruddy the best $1… not only is that color amazing, but on the personal… I have a few mounted from a swan hunt down shout years ago! Purdy chip!! Gotta take some mounted ducks pics, here’s the swan from that hunt

Damn thing is massive!

For my tastes, you did exactly what I should have done with most of my custom sets, putting the most elaborate and visually appealing spots on the chips you are likely to see most often (as opposed to saving those for the highest denomination chips in the set).

Like many others have said, the rubber ducky for the frac is perfection.

I'm a fan of the $5k. If you haven't already double checked the colors against a sample set and in person (and the location and lighting where you will use these), that one chip will come out looking fairly dark. For contrast against the chips "around it", it should be fine, but you might want to check the colors against the 100 as an example.

Looks good. Clean, simple, easy to read inlay.

Thanks so much for the feedback and tips!

Yah - appreciate how dark the $5k will be. I was back and forth as the lighter grey looks a bit too blue for me sometimes. Thought charcoal matched with the darker in the rest of the chips. Will revisit before finalizing it.

General question for you as I’m still early on this journey - I’d love for all these chips to be produced when CPC is up and running. I don’t think the higher denoms will ever really be used personally. Considering budgets and not necessarily wanting to make 900-1000 chips to get all denoms, are there options to do this? Or will I just have to wait and do a tournament set at some point in the future?

It all looks good, but in my experience, over a half-dozen custom sets between CPC and ASM before them, it's easy to be deceived by the chip design tool. You are seeing light and colors projected on and through a screen versus a real chip, where the light plays differently. If you are OK with the darker colors (and they look good to me on screen), I'm mostly advising that you see what those chip colors look like in real life via a color sample and in the place you will be using them.

I have mocked up spots and colors that look good on screen and weren't so good when those were in the space and lighting where I play. Your siutation might be different, but this was mostly a friendly "warning" to double check colors and such in real life. I have definitely changed spot colors on a chip design after compared them in reality with my color samples.

Most of what you have looks fine, but you might want to check a few before committing to having these made to avoid some possible regrets after the fact.

(I have had three different chips re-made by CPC because I didn't do this, and am mostly trying to save you from a similar situation.)

You might have to wait to see what @CPC_Mike does for order minimums once the move has been made and new orders are ready to be accepted. Historically, @David Spragg has allowed a smaller number of the higher denomination chips to be made in a large(r) order, mostly on a case-by-case basis. I'd suggest plan on the full set you are considering and when orders start to be taken again, ask and see what order minimums will be like after the move.

I really appreciate the advice! To your point, one of the first things I did was pick up a color sample set (thanks to @GreatWhiteDope for hooking me up)

Given the CPC move timeline, I’m sure there’ll be a dozen more tweaks before I push go 😆.

Put both the Teal and the Ruddy in context of the rest of the chips

I like the Ruddy duck, but I think the Blue-Winged Teal chip probably fits better in context. I could always put the Ruddy on the colors of the other chip, but I’m trying to be more purist with which colours are closer. Opinions welcome!

Honesty, I like both options. IMO, the lighter chip color of the Ruddy would contrast better with the other chips. But I think either would be fine in this set-up. I think you should go for whichever one you like the most as in the end you are the only one that needs to be satisfied. Nice job.

I am stunned how much I like this set. For what it's worth, I like the Teal better. And I don't know if the X chip got deleted but if it did, I am glad. All of the others are classic and stylish. That one made me feel like I should be listening to the Grateful Dead and smoking a bone. Not that I object to either of those things, but it was a "one of these things is not like the others" kind of thing. I absolutely love what you did with the edge spots on the $5000.

Thanks so much!

It did stick out like a bit of a sore thumb with the wider set. I’ve simplified it a bit, though I need to see what it looks like in the color samples. The pink feels close to the retro lavender $500.

I got the idea of a decoy stuck in my head.

IMG_1151.webp

In context with some of the set
IMG_1150.webp

The decoy probably aligns with the theme rest of the set a bit better than the rubber duck at 25c. I love the rubber duck though, so losing it is not in my decision set.

The options in my mind are:
  1. Forget about the decoy
  2. Make the decoy a NCV chip
  3. Put the decoy as 25c and make the rubber duck 5c
I’m sure there are some other options too… The theme just keeps on growing in my drafts and it probably makes sense to refine.

Welcome any thoughts and advice!
