Hello everyone,

I have been viewing posts and gaining information on chips here and there for a year or two and though now would be the time to actually make an account lol.

I have been playing poker for around 16 years now (I'm 32, where does time go)

Just bought my first home and looking to host a monthly home game and looking for good recommendations for chips and tables and accessories etc.

Hope ylto engage a lot more
Thank you
Lucas

Welcome to the forum! I was also a long time lurker. Being a member and collecting is a lot more fun :)

Good to have you and happy hunting!

Welcome fellow UKer :D

Everything comes down to budget so getting an idea of that always helps.

While all parts of a home game are important I would rank table/chairs first, then cards and then chips.

For tables you can go from a simple topper to a high end custom build, from <=£100 to 1000s. I built my own table which was a fun process in of itself but also gives me a extra tingle every time we play :)

Cards can go from ~£7 a deck upwards and there are plenty of reviews here that cover most of the major brands. Personally I like the Desjgn cards (~£25 for a 2 deck setup) and Modianos for £7 each. I'm also going to get some Broken Arrow decks and AHCP is a UK based card vendor here also. Whatever you get make sure you get plastic cards- poker sized jumbo index is my goto.

Chipwise the UK isn't best served for chips but a range of options are still available. Cheapos are the ones you see at, say, 500 for ~£100, dice chips and plastic sluggos from Amazon etc. Next up are "Tinas", search forum for more info, and these are maybe double the cost of the cheapos but can be fully custom and we have various buying routes for those. I went for these and am more than happy. The quality and price can continue to rise as you move up the chip ladder and at these altitudes you can be paying £1++ per chip. I don't know too much about these ones but this forum is certainly the place to be if you're after high quality chips.

Good luck.

Thank you for the information.

I am definitely looking to build my own table, I am fairly confident I can do a decent job. I am a confident trades person with an abundance of tools so I'm going to give it a good go.

I currently have the copag green and burgundy twin set cards and the EPT Fournier set and I have the 500 piece pokerstars chip set that I won in a tourney.

I really like the idea of the Tina's and hopefully get involved in a group buy or similar.
Really would like a cash set aswell, i think I only need denoms 25p, £1, £5

Welcome, fair few of us now from around the UK. Where abouts are you?

As suggest above, Tina's are a great avenue for custom chips at a good price. I helped fine tune some Tina designs for @Nymor , came out great.

You'll find this place has a way of getting under your skin and you find yourself justifying MORE chips. But I'd maybe consider a little future proofing while building a set. You might not need £20/£25 chips right now, but soon when a loaf of bread costs £12, you might appreciate having the extra bank.

I'm in Essex, you?.

That's very good insight regarding considering inflation. I hadn't really though about it. Buy once cry once I suppose.

I think Tinas sound like the sweet spot for me. Is there a link on here to their outlet or is it all done through group buys etc.

I'm down in sunny Dorset :)
Exactly that - if you're getting customs made, may as well make sure they can last you many years to come.

Tina's are a great option. The link above from @Winslow2918 is to the current groupbuy from vendor @justincarothers . A solid vendor on PCF. Though it might work out about the same if you order direct - I'm only guessing but I'd imagine the whole groupbuy order would ship direct to Justin then you'd have to get them shipped to the UK. if you go direct Tina can ship them to your door. Shoot me a PM if you have any Q's :)

welcome fellow Essexman!

Hey! I’m in Essex too! I’m interested in getting some Tina’s ordered through Justin’s group buys at some point soon. Maybe we could combine orders to cut costs? Just throwing it out there…
Waiting on a CPC tournament set to arrive so prob not in the market for Tinas at the moment. Search ‘UK group buy’ on the forum as I think there were a couple others considering not long ago
