When calculating a new tournament set, it's so tilting that 30% of the chip set is devoted to chips that will be colored up after the first hour.

Has anyone considered just cheaping out on the lowest denom, and devoting more of the tournament set to the bigger chips? It's not like people are gonna sneak in a chip equal to one Level 1 small blind, are they?

Talk me out of it?

I'm sure you could get away with it, more people on here would probably do it too but we are a very particular crowd.

Sure. I feel like that’s how sets naturally progress anyways, though. I guess when your lowest denom is $100, maybe not.

It all depends on your structure. I tend to focus on T100 and T1000 chips for the bulk of play. What's really a pain is when games/casinos use baby starting stacks and have to make change over and over again the first few levels. I played numerous tourneys with 4-4-3-3-1 starting stacks and they're making change from the getgo.

Yeah I considered what a 5-3-8-1 stack would look like instead of a 10-2-8-1. Results in less T100s needed, but makes play more difficult as you said. Having the 10-2-8-1 also allows you the freedom to revert to a 5-3-8-1 if you have an unusually large turnout.

I was considering using the wooden free drink tokens from the bars as fracs for a 50¢/$1 cash game. But just for the novelty, not to save any money.

Cheap out? Would you, sir, give the baby of the family less nutritious food so that you can invest in better food for the eldest? Nay, that would be evil! Banish all these thoughts forthwith!
What if the baby is Will Kassouf?

Doesn’t matter if you bust in the first hour every tournament! You’ll always get to play with them the full time then!
