Kem prices will be increased (again) (2 Viewers)

haha so now it's time to just keep the cards in storage to speculate on future prices. Instead play with Angels or something similar :p

If you are referring to Kems…they often do bow if you leave them out or live in a humid climate. I have over 12 individual decks I’ve kept perfectly flat for 6-15 years simply by storing them upside down with a cut card on top and a cheap dealer button.

Not that they are so expensive they are not worth the extra care. I’d just bury the Angels as they feel the closes to Kems of any card in existence. I’m convinced they were modeled to copy Kems as the artwork is very similar
The whole problem is that you buy playing cards, not a fighter, for some crazy money and you can't always use them. It's just ridiculous... It's complete nonsense!
For $70 they just have to be perfect! And nothing else. Without any dealer buttons.
By the way, Angels are PVC. And only one of their types was acetate.

The price hike for Kems is very recent. They used to be $30 USD and often disjointed on Amazon. I never payed more than $23 for a setup.

People who love Kems love the feel. They is no card like it. Angels Acetates are as close as it gets. Kems also must resist marking the best as I would imagine that’s a big reason almost all US casinos use them

The prices you are talking about have not existed for many years.

Bicycle makes Fournier? Can’t keep up with who actually manufactures the cards. And Link has them for $14.

I simply do not understand this business model.

Why even market these to the average schlep at all when we can spend 1/5th of that on a quality competing brand.... or even cheap-ass paper playing cards?

Copags still can be had for $21 on amazon. Some Da Vinci setups are even less.

LOL they aren't even worth a third of that price. Maybe get back to OLD Kem quality and we'll talk about paying even a fraction of that. Kem today are one of the most overrated things ever. I don't care how they have "GrEaT fEeL," you'd have to be nuts to pay that for shitty flimsy cards that nowadays aren't uncommon to be bowed before you even open them. Hell, just get Angels; they feel pretty much the same and are better quality.

I love KEMs but wouldn't spend even a fraction of that price.
However, they are charging what they can get for them or they wouldn't do it. SOMEONE is buying these in enough quantity to confirm their pricing.

It's certainly not me.

Maybe they just want out of the retail business?

Wow, this is nuts! No idea who is buying cards at this price!?!

Interesting timing - I just had a call from my aunt about my recently deceased uncle's estate and some "poker stuff" she was hoping to move on. She mentioned there were lots of playing cards with the letters "K - E - M" on them. Uncle might have left her a goldmine  :ROFLMAO: . I wonder what else is in there!?!?

I'm visiting her tomorrow to see what this is all about.

I believe KEM simply wants out of the retail acetate playing card business except for bulk deals to casinos/card rooms where they make sweetheart deals.

Are there any acetate makers left? Angel acetate has disappeared from Amazon.jp and I think Modiano Platinums are long gone. Who's left?

Once I noticed that almost all KEM cards bow upwards, even when stored properly, I stopped buying them and sold off every last setup I had. I just don't want to take my chances with them anymore.
My friend, I appreciate you joining the KEM haters club. Doors are always open. Juice is not worth the squeeze; I've got my cigars in a humidor, I don't want to make room for playing cards.
