Why is baseball the best sport on the planet? Discuss. (4 Viewers)

Opening day in Wisconsin. 38 degrees, but my friend Jack Daniels is keeping me warmView attachment 1487797
I like the Brew Crew but my god, even with Yelich bad they are just bad. I went to 7 Brewers Cactus League games. 0-7. And they got shelled by NY and absolutely tuned up (shut it off down 10-1 in the 5th) by KC today.

Need some advice/input….

I’m doing my midwestern baseball tour this year and it’s going to be 3 or 4 days, games every day and poker at night.

So far I’ve got Rate Field in Chicago to watch NYY @ ChiSox on Thursday August 28th and Diamondbacks at Brewers on Friday August 29h (or I can inverse those if it makes logistical sense).

Make the case for me to visit your local ballpark if you have a home game on Wednesday Aug 27th or Saturday Aug 30th. What makes your park special, best eats, best bar for pregame warmup, best local non-baseball stuff, best poker action, all the things…

Yeah, it’s been brutal these first few games. They didn’t lose 4 games in a row all last season. There’s going to be growing pains with Adames gone, but it feels like everyone is pressing, trying to force it to fit. Chourio with the platinum sombrero on Opening day was a nice touch though

On the plus side, our starting rotation is in such great shape that we had a bullpen game today. And the 3rd starting pitcher is on the DL now. Maybe we’ll see the return of Spahn and Sain then pray for rain. It won’t help at home with the retractable roof, but on the road? Watch out

Indians are at home both nights. Jacob’s Field is an all time stadium. I could host a $5-$5 PLO circus night poker game as well.

Milwaukee is kinda sterile from a ballpark perspective, but its got some good eats. Get the Holy Trinity of Sausage... Brat, Polish and Italian.

Checked off Coors Field on Wednesday night. This is a crazy underrated ballpark. So open and easy to move around! The sight lines are a little tight from the concourse, but that’s getting pretty nitpicky. It felt a little bit like Dodger stadium in just how big it felt inside the park.

Really friendly staff all around too. We didn’t get a chance to get to the upper decks at all, so I might have to make a return trip. I mean, those $3 Coors Banquets aren’t going to drink themselves!

Winning 17-2 would normally be the highlight of the night, but we made the TV broadcast in the 9th inning!

Scherzer definitely hit all those milestones. Not sure if there are more.
Was thinking Maddux and Clemons too, but neither have a no-hitter, which is mind boggling to me (especially Maddux). Kershaw is close too, needs another no-hitter and ring.

Maddux doesn't have the rings. That's what happens when you play in Atlanta in the 90's. Clemens doesn't have the no hitter, despite striking out 20 in a game -- twice! Kershaw has only one ring; I think he only has one no hitter too.

Was Kershaw not a member of the Dodgers last year? Wikipedia doesn’t list him as 2024 WS champion.
