Thoughts on outlaw chips (3 Viewers)

I've been doing a bit of research before going in on a set of poker chips to elevate my home games.
It seems to me that these outlaw poker chips that I've stumbled across are the perfect blend of high quality materials and cost.
It seems like most people prefer clay chips as opposed to plastic or ceramic and beyond that, the only downsides I see are the inconsistent coloring, and then being 3 grams heavier than actual casino chips.
I would appreciate y'all's opinion on this. What are the benefits to purchasing chips that are at least double the price of these? Also, does anyone have any other suggestions for poker chip sets that are around this price point? ($150 for a 500 piece set(case included))

The Outlaws seem to be well liked around here, as far as the inexpensive slugged chips go. I haven't had those specifically, but I did have a tourney set of the Monacos from Discount Poker Shop, which appear to be made of the same material, and I was very pleased. Good colors, clear denominations, and they felt and stacked ok. Of course, as with any inexpensive item, you may have some quality control issues, i.e., color consistency (there were two slightly different yellows among my $1000 chips), but they are a good upgrade from dice chips. Your poker buddies will be impressed that they have the values printed right on the chip. Shoot, some of them, if exposed to some of these, and leaded Paulson THC's, may prefer the Outlaws. YMMV, of course.

Very good discount on these nexgen remix as mentioned here by @Kam. I still use these fairly often as my family loves the colors and I love the weight and sharp edges for the price. Do keep in mind if you go with the nexgen chips you will need slightly wider racks if you use them for storage. It shouldn't be an issue if you use a case.

I don't own any Outlaw chips but I have played with them and they are very nice for the price.

Consider buying some samples from the group buy to get an idea of the feel and diversity of the ceramic hybrid chips. (If you want to upgrade in the future)

I owned these before buying Paulsons, wish I would’ve stopped there. I recommend Outlaws to anyone starting out. I like them more than Tina’s by a landslide.

Closer feel to Paulsons than Tina’s. I’ve never been a fan of ceramics and don’t think I ever will be. The slugs feel better than china clays too, and china clays stink.

I tend to agree, ceramics and china clays also break a lot easier.

I have a few racks of Outlaws I’m not using. Let me dig them up.

I do think they’re great for the category of chips they are. Same with the Monaco Casino chips from DPS as well.

Any sets in this category (budget, but good value for money) that include nickels?
Seems like Monte Carlo and Casino Royale sets from the Poker Store are the only ones, unless you want to make the jump to Tina, but not sure if the quality is comparable to Outlaws...

I think those are the only options with nickels, as far as I know. However, if you had your heart set on a different set, it wouldn't be terribly cost prohibitive to relabel a rack as nickels.

I’m a chip snob like most on here and a friend of ours bought some for his home game and I enjoyed playing with them.

He is selling them.
Not sure the price but he put them on FB marketplace.
Not sure if they would save you money or not.
Had a few games played with them.

I think @TonZaga may have them atm.

While I don't own this set the best thing I ever did for our home game was buy good quality chips. The look and feel like chips from the casino and there is no issue with denominations. This set is about 15 years old and still looks really nice. I would go with quality every time.

I don't own a set, but I've played with them. The 25cent and 50cent chips are a little hard to distinguish. The diameter varies enough that it's very noticeable.

I own a set of these as well and agree they are very nice for a starter set without the big expense of real clay or custom ceramics. $250 for 1000 chips is a pretty sweet deal above. They are noticeably heavier, especially when racked up and transporting.

Agreed. They are the one ABS set I would gladly keep. They are an amazing value and imo the best sluggos on the market.

I would really suggest slowplay ceramic sets that you can also find on amazon. There's chips with or without denominations. You can also buy certain colors of your choice (case not included if you do this). It will be 100 dollars more than the outlaws, but they are much better quality control then outlaws. The ceramics stack easier and taller because they are flatter, way more durable, and the case it comes with is higher quality. Of course, its up to you if you feel like those 100 extra bucks are worth those pros. I will let you know, I played with sluggers for 2 months maybe 3, and then I went and bought the ceramics and still use them today.

New to chipping and the Outlaws are really great. I was going to buy the 1000 chips but the shipping cost half as much as the chips themselves. Compared to getting CC from other stores, the higher cost but free shipping offsets their expensiveness compared to outlaws. I love how the outlaws look, but for now i may go straight to china clay Olympus chips that really look great (and the samples i've tried feel great!)
