Interesting video on casino cheating by
WIRED. Sal briefly brings up counterfeit casino chips, I think his confidence in China’s ability to make quality chips is a touch high.

12:45 is the counterfeit chip talk. Overall very entertaining and highlights mechanic basics to look out for at home games. Even has cancellation Paulsons for demonstration.

finally had some time to watch it. Really interesting, some new stuff I’d never heard of before.

Also now actually understand what the Ivey /Borgata ho-ha was actually about.

Thanks for sharing

Hahahaah. Casino totally deserved to lose. Good for Ivey.
Yeah, I heard DNegs explain in an interview that Ivey proposed the parameters of the game, the casino agreed to them, Ivey didn’t touch the cards and they sued him since they lost. Crazy.

The edge sorting controversy is totally insane, the fact they lost in court is wild.

The thing at 1:35 has left me with so many more questions

This can’t be a real thing can it
This is the one thing I’d never heard of. It even looked goofy but I guess I was told to pay attention.

I was also surprised about the sandpaper on the edges of the Aces (how little effort) and how easy it was to strip them out.

In short, if someone is determined and skilled, it’s really hard to catch ‘em. Defo staying with the multiple people shuffle /cut /deal approach.

For the marked cards where cheaters use contact lenses, would a UV flashlight show up the marked cards?

I would like to know too.

Best defence would have to be not letting people bring in decks. That doesn't help if you are a guest. Maybe a pocket sized lense can whip out and test a deck with.

Simple can be very effective. Though I reckon it would be a method used long ago before cameras or regular chip counts in casinos. But I guess it could still work well in a home game?
Yep quick and effective right. Amazing what the eye doesn’t catch.
Interesting I only just found out casinos launder employees uniforms. So they never take their uniform home for security purposes. Makes total sense just never really thought about it before.

Oh wow. Makes sense now. Mrs drdr used to work in a restaurant outside the casino floor but still in the same place entertaining complex. They required company control of and launder her uniform.
