TEQUILA (4 Viewers)

My buddy found this at a local liquor store. I had to slow myself from drinking it all.
So good.

I know this is not all tequila but I just wanted to share my haul from today! I am beyond excited that I was able to finally add some Fortaleza Still Strength to my collection!!!
Did you like the Still Strength?
It has a sweet agave note on the finish that I don't get in the regular blanco.

I love the still strength! The regular blanco is good but I prefer the still strength. I would have to put it up there in my top 3 blancos with G4 Madera lot 3 and Cascahuin Tahoma. Depending on the day of the week, any of them could be my number one.

I am a fan of both of those bottles. The G4 repo is one of my top 3 reposados. The Cascahuin's big brother's Plata 48 and Tahoma are also some of my favorite higher proof blancos. I have not had a chance to try the G4 extra anejo yet. I have not had anything from them that I didn't like. The G4 Madera is also one of my all-time favs.

Tamarind margarita hiding back there?

You just inspired me to go out and get some limes...lol.

My wife brought home a bottle of tamarind "juice" from a weekly produce market and I kept staring at it and wondering what would make it better!
Just standard margarita at that point lol losing count

This is probably a lifetime supply. Recently, I have moved away from Casamigos to what I call “tequila by the numbers“: Tequila Ocho, G4, Siete Leguas for my go-to tequilas. I’m also very happy with the over proof Cazcanes, but it is muy cara.

A new tequila bottle I grabbed today. I give it two thumbs up. A nice amount of agave, citrus, and a touch of pepper. Just how I like my blancos! The Makers store pick was amazing as well!

Fraternity talent night...chugged a fifth of Cuervo Gold...slept in a dumpster because my brothers couldn't carry me...they came back and got me so I didn't end up on a garbage scow in the Delaware River...3 day hangover (puking for a day and a half)...did I win?

There are so many tales like this one through the years…and a long line of folks turned off to tequila forever. Sadly, Cuervo is like lighter fluid.
There’s so many 100% agave tequilas out there now that taste fantastic and won’t treat you like that. Give it another shot! :)

...or a nice mezcal - no hangover, promise.... :cool

Love tequila now...

This is my current go to mixer.

Waikulu distillery in Maui.

I'm in Maui this week with the Fam. We have an appointment Monday for a tour and tasting. I'm going with both my sons and my son-in-law. I have heard good things.

Of course, it's not Tequila because it's not made in the correct region of Mexico, but I think given the way demand for Tequila is rising, making Agave Spirits is a growth industry.

I love margaritas, but I don’t have them often enough to keep a drawer full of limes at the ready. For practicality reasons, I’ve resorted to mixers and the one from Costco used to be fairly decent…100% cane sugar and lime juice. They switched to another mix recently and it’s like all the others…awful.
I’m ready to start making a proper margarita (I bartended in my youth and am familiar with Cointreau.)
The question I have, what’s the best method/juicer for limes?

I use the same one. It’s incredible! (Not sure if it’s the same exact brand but looks exactly the same)

Just picked up a bottle of the G4 repo, which seems to be fairly easy to find here. Looking forward to trying it.

For you bourbon drinkers, you really aught to try an Anejo Tequila, or an Extra Anejo Tequila aged in a bourbon barrel. It really is the best of both worlds. There are many out there, but give this one a shot.

Tequila Ocho- ok fine
Widow Jane Bourbon- ok fine
Together- truly wonderful

Waikuku distillery and in Maui. Surprisingly small operation. They typically harvest 10 agave plants a week and have six total employees. The product is very good quality. I’m in the process of packing three bottles of tequila in my checked baggage. My wife thinks I’m crazy and doesn’t want all of our clothes to smell like tequila when we get home.
