Hi all, I have a casino rental business and for the better part of 10 years I have stored and transported chips needed for each gig in the Alum 700 chip cases, along with a couple 1k acrylic birdcages.

I'm outgrowing this, and have made strides to improve the set up process at events by not making trip after trip from venue to trailer with these cases (among other accessories).

My new set up involves boxes from the Husky build-out line from Home depot.

https://www.homedepot.ca/product/hu...lymer-multipurpose-dolly/1001889499?rrec=true

Mainly these "crates" that can be stacked 4-5 high and integrated with the dolly for easy transportation.

Now, the issue of the chips. The original idea was to transfer all chips into the 5x20 acrylic trays. Easy to grab and go qtys I need. They can stack in layers of 7 up to 4-5 high (so 3500 chips max) but due to weight I like to keep it at 3 rows high (2100 each crate)

Problem is in practice, it's clunky. Stacking isn't perfect. Dealers might not stack them perfectly when putting away. Trays can bump and chips can fall out. Creates lots of empty clattering trays to sift through at events.

I'm wondering if there's a more custom solution like the Spinetti's 1k chip tray that I can cut to fit snugly in these crates and layer the chips better

Otherwise, anyone have any other ideas? The main motivation is to minimize the total number of pieces bringing to an event (where 5000+ chips may be needed) as well make it easier on dealers to put chips away after an event for easy travel (read: idiotproof)

I've read a lot about those. Look great for personal home games, but I'd still need 4-5 of them for transporting 5000+ and that's just back to square one.

yea, considering something like this with the Spinetti 1000 trays in the drawers

Seems

Yea, was thinking of exactly that. Still seems a bit too heavy duty and large of a footprint though

For the record this is the current new setup (2 of those crates have 2100 acrylic trays stacked each, the others have roulette kits, Blackjack shoes etc)

Trouble with 5000 chips at 10 grams each is 110lbs prior to the weight of the case. I have some tool boxes that hold 2600 & 3600 chips respectively. They are the absolute maximum I'd say for portable weight. Two boxes would meet your needs though.

Perhaps a rolling tool box would work. You can have lockable drawers full of chips. You could load it on trailers or move it around indoors. The one below has approx 8000 chip capacity in the lower unit. The top is mostly for cards and accessories but will hold 6 racks per drawer.

Yea rolling chest/tool is probably the next step. The Husky set ups are great for my small/medium events but I feel I'll need a chest or two for the large events

Let’s see the chips!

But I love the versa bird cages using the Justin racks.

Specifically versa bird cages and Justin racks. Not your typical acrylic bird cages nor acrylic racks.

I carry 4000 chips to my fundraisers. They do tip over if you take a quick turn or make a sudden stop so your best to tie them together while in the trunk etc…

However it appears you are carrying way more…

We use these rolling toolboxes for our boat days, think it fits everything you need. Get creative with the inside but that can easily fit 5k chips plus cards, buttons, whatever. Maybe overkill but I always prefer to have more room when running a tournament, this could probably include my cashbox, some table toppers, bounties, whatever I needed.

You would have to get creative with the interior, some type of foam or padding, but I'd be interested to see the end result.

Thanks for all the replies. Very active community I appreciate it.

To expand on my needs - the biggest factor for me (aside from ease of loading at the warehouse) is set up and teardown at events.

Each casino table has a standard 10-row 500chip tray that gets mostly loaded with different denom chips. When setting up, I'd like to be able to roll something along (like a chest or my current Husky set up) take out what chips I need, fill tray, move on. For teardown, each operator of the tables obviously wants to get paid and get home asap so they are quick with help but they don't think. They see trays or cases and they'll just fill chips. I want to make sure chips go back appropriately (1 color per rack, etc) and safely and exactly how I stored them. Obviously there's some training in this on my part but I want to make the process as idiot-proof as possible.

I usually bring ~500 chips per table and events anywhere from 3-20 tables so modularity is a big factor too

Best shot in can get in my trailer right now till I go to the warehouse

So the headline says 1000-5000 I attest the 4 versa cages is the play.

I totally get the request, but if I owned a casino rental business, I wouldn't be putting my chips on a public forum, whether they are generics, customs or retired casino chips.
Well it’s always fundraisers and play money right?

If it was me, I would first find the case that meets your requirements for ease of transport and then look at something like https://mycasebuilder.com/ to have the inside built as exactly as you need.
Obviously cost/time might be a factor with this option.

I built a bunch of wood boxes and 3D printed custom racks to fit 33 chips which is our starting stack sizes. The boxes nest and have handles, but don't have wheels so I still need a dolly or carry to move them around, but it keeps the weight of each box down rather than trying to carry thousands at a time.

If you don't know, Tchan owns a similar business, likely on a similar scale

I like the harbor freight route but considering the amount of chips and extras you need to carry around maybe look into the Milwaukee pack out cases that connect to each other and can roll around. I think there’s another brand with a similar setup that Lowe’s or home depot are carrying now. On top of the 3d customization for inserts and storage, possibilities are endless.

I was just about to say this. A Milwaukee pack out, or similar is the way to go. Could move 5k chips no problem. They have different sized ones so you can take 2k, 3k, etc

I think something like the airline carts would work for you.

The top compartments could hold cards and such.

The trays would be dealer trays, and you just pull each preloaded one out and set it in the table, add some cards and a button and you are done. At the end of the night the dealer fills the tray, you check it, and slide it back into its slot.

Each cart could be like 5 tables and you just get out as many carts as you need. You can lock them too. And they are designed for this purpose, rolling trays of whatever around.

Consider Apache 5800.

$50 on sale.
1700 chips (or more?)
60 lbs so a manageable weight up a curb or onto a table.

You can set them up for 3 tables and have the dealers grab there own chips on setup.

--

The rolling carts are meant to roll around on a smooth shop floor a few feet a day. I wonder about how they do over long distances and sidewalks and small curbs and door thresholds. But the rolling tool chests seems the best choice for setup. They are also very heavy empty even empty. Not sure how fun it'd be to roll down a steep moving ramp. A factor here.

---

I asked here awhile ago about ridgid / Milwaukee boxes with drawers. That may be best of all worlds if they're not too inefficient due to wasted space.

The 4 drawer ridgid box is $130. They stack and are modular. Can go on a dolly or "tilting" cart. I just don't know what they fit. I've been curious myself but ended up with apache/pelican. If you take some racks to home depot let us know how you do.
