after spending a small fortune to get samples of Apache china clays, Tina ceramics, Paulsons, BR pro (already have some CPC), I’ve been quite disappointed by China clays. The edges feel like rubbery plastic hell, even the discount Poker shop Spartan poker chops have considerably better edges at a fraction of the cost versus China clays.

The only upside I can say is they sound pretty good, and the flatness is pretty good also although not that that really matters at this price point.

To whoever says that China clays feel like Paulsons, respectfully, what the fuck are you on? XD

I don’t think anyone does lol

Have you tried the Tina hybrids from @justincarothers? I guess if those are china clays I do praise them highly lol

Budget usually dictates what chips you go with. In the beginning it was dice chips for me. Then some plastic sluggos that I used for over 10 years. Next came BR ceramics, Tina Hybrids, then Paulsons. I’m hoping to get some CPC chips before they close their doors.

I am impressed with the web mold from Tina. They are not slippery at all and they look amazing. At $.50 a for a customized chip, it’s a great value. I still use them for my tourney set.

If you can afford Paulson sets, do it! They’re the best in my book. But to customize them, you either have to over label them or destroy the chip value by murdering them.

CPC custom chips are a labor of love. You don’t buy them because you plan on selling them later. You buy them because you’re making them your own and plan on keeping them forever.

Just to clarify, regarding the slipperiness, a lot of ceramics seem to have this initial texture that when you shuffle for an hour or two, that texture is gone and the chips slide like crazy on top of each other. Super super easy to knock over stacks.

I’m afraid you will never be happy with anything besides dice chips. Anything else will be:

Too slippery
Too rough
Too expensive
Take to long to acquire
Colors won’t be vibrant enough
Color bleed/transfer
Not round enough
To easy to counterfeit
Labels instead of inlays
White labels
Black labels
Too worn
Not worn enough
Textured labels
Smooth labels
Not ceramic
Sounds too hollow
Sounds too dense
Not dice chips

Probably missed a few, but I’m sure I covered most of what you will complain about with anything.
Samples seem to not work for you, I’d just jump right in and start buying sets to find the one that has the least number of defects for your tastes.

I have a barrel of card mold Taj Mahjals that I have been shuffling day in and day out for about 6 months. They're starting to show color wear, which was my goal to see how durable they are.

They still stack like bricks so I'm going to have to ask what the fuck are you on?

Interesting , I’ve had that slipperiness happen with all my Tina hybrid ceramics samples, JPTs from jacks poker, some other ceramic.
They glide off each other like theyre made of lube.
Interesting it doesn’t happen with the Tajs.

I have another barrel of hybrid Sunset Beaches that I shuffle a ton and if anything they get too sticky because of all the hand oils they retain. I've had to wash them a few times now.

CCs do not feel, sound, or smell like Paulson chips. They are good for what they are - attractive and inexpensive facsimiles with denominations and color variation.

I’ve had zero complaints (and many compliments) from dozens of home game players.

Pictured is a brand new, 500-chip set that was less than $300.

They taste somewhat similar though.

Have you tried PolyClay from SF or the hybrids (especially the 43mm with 1" labels) from SF ?
