Cash Game Why so many $5s? (3 Viewers)

I prefer to have a larger amount of $1 chips vs. $5 chips. They are more useful if you want to run $2/$4 or $3/$6 limit nights. And a casual observation is there is less making change when you have an ample amount of $1 chips on the table.

Except almost no one runs limit nights. If you do then whatever breakdown works best for you is the way. For me.....MOAR $5'S

Is it just that red chips look good?
Most red chips look like shit, use Yellow, they do look good!

Says you.
and me ;)
I actually only put 60 fracs (.25) and 180 singles ($1) on the table.

for 1 table 300 ($5s) is enough otherwise you're going to be making change every hand. If you only use large denoms, say 20s for rebuys you're going to be short on 5s. Once I have 300 5s out, I start coloring them up with 20s / 100s and recycle the 5s.

If you're running .25/.5 300 is enough in that break down, but another rack would be nice in a pinch.

Why do you $5-crazed people bother with efficiency when it comes to # of fracs or tournament sets? Isn’t ”moar” chips just as cool then?
I am a full-fledged member of the "moar fracs" club. :ROFLMAO:

Really though, when it comes to $5s, I find that 3 racks is the sweet spot for my sets and games. If we play $0.25/0.50, then I'll use 3 racks of $1s and usually just put 2 racks of $5s into play and then I'll bring out the $20s or $25s. If we're playing $0.50/1.00, then I'll have 3 racks of $5s in play, but only 2 racks of $1s.

MOAR chips is always cool- like horsepower, number of Rolexes (I have 0).

@Godzilla28 ‘s last 0.25/0.50 game preflop action. Yes that frac is super important.

This is not a limit set  :ROFLMAO:

The whole “efficiency” thing seems misplaced in this context. Are all you efficiency nuts trying to run fun home games, or a dry cleaning business?
I am a chipper after all so a simple ”fuck off, I like fives”, is a perfectly understandable and acceptable answer ;).

You’ll just never convince me that there are any logical reasons as to why one has to have piles of them to run a game.

I don’t think anyone said you have to.

It just seems like there are lots good reasons to have plenty (more fun stacking chips! less nitty gameplay! fewer times you have to make change!).

And not many good reasons to have the bare minimum except budget constraints… in which case splurging on even a smallish set of premium poker chips doesn’t seem like a wise choice.

But it's fun to be difficult about it.

Did not expect this thread to blow up, but in hindsight I should not have been surprised.

Got two racks of $5s already, for a single table. I see some people saying that's plenty. Some are saying more is better. Some are saying three racks, but no way do I want an odd number of racks (yes, one is an odd number but it doesn't bother me for some reason).

I'm convinced that it looks cool and possibly generates more action, and most importantly I'm not budget-constrained, so... two more racks of $5s on the way.

On the other hand, having so many racks of $1s or racks of fracs does not seem as cool and I cannot explain why.
