Not Mine PSA: Barrington table $149 at Walmart ($169 if you want the lighted version) (3 Viewers)

My new Barrington LED table came this afternoon. First, I agree that the table was very well packaged. Basically double boxed with additional cardboard, padding, and Styrofoam. I am very impressed so far! The QC on the table seems to far exceed the old versions of Barrington tables. The improvements that the LED table have include sturdier legs, adjustable tension on the support wire underneath, the new style matte finished rail, slightly deeper cup holders, better padding and felt than the older table.

The first thing I tested was pitching the cards. They pitch just fine from one end to the other and back the other way. Sometimes you can get a slight dip or bump in the center of some Barringtons that will stop the cards from gliding all the way across the table from end to end. This table was perfect with no imperfections in the center.

Next I laid out a couple classic Barrington sized toppers on the table. The LED versions of Barrington tables do have a slightly larger playing surface than standard classic tables. But I kind of think it looks great with a standard size topper with the lights on. It leaves just enough space to make a cool lighted ring around the table.

I mentioned the slight improvement in the cup holders earlier. It is not a massive improvement but they are deep enough now to fit solo cup style cups snuggly. I think that the slightly deeper cup holders will actually help a decent amount with spills compared to the old version of the cup holders.

The legs do seem to be made of a bit sturdier metal as well. I am happy with this improvement. The table feels really sturdy. I know some players lean heavy on the tables during play and I will take any bit of reinforcement I can get.

Here are a few more random photos.

I have already ordered some battery packs, rechargeable batteries, and a dimmer switch to go along with the table. Those should be here in the next day or two hopefully.

I am really impressed with this table. I feel that the slight increase in price over the classic is definitely worth it for the LED version of this table. It is a bit heavier than the classic but I am not going to be transporting this table too often. The classic would be a bit easier to move and transport due to 20 lbs of less weight. I have even thought about selling my older classic style Barrington and picking up another one of these. I am already on thinner ice with the wife until my other table sells so I probably shouldn't push my luck unless I could sell all my other tables first. :ROFLMAO:

Long story short, I love this table and highly recommend it!!!! You can't go wrong at this price!
This was the perfect post for me to see. I’ve got an LED table coming to replace a 3 year old standard barrington that I’ve got a topper on. Looks like this will be a worthy upgrade and change! Thanks for info and pics!

I dig the LED rail lights, but not a fan of the blue. How much of a pain in the d would it be to replace? Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Is the Barrington worth the extra $30 over this beauty?

I think the $169 LED has some of their Premium table features like a better hardware and maybe a thicker base. The $169 LED table advertises a 5/8" thick deck, but the $149 version does not make this claim. That difference and the heavier hardware would explain the almost 20 pound difference.
Here's a photo showing the 149, the 169 and their premium tables. Notice the badge area in the legs is the wide one on the $169 LED and Premium, which I read in other posts has heavier grade legs.

I may get the LED one just for the deck and hardware, even if I don't use the LED lights. The printing on the felt is a bit more subtle as well.

There may be a better way to do battery setup for the lights...although not as powerful, a lot less expensive.
In another thread, @Rome mentions using these battery packs, and they apparently fit in the 12v socket perfectly:

A two-pack of these on Amazon is under $10. You could load up both with batteries, and when one starts to go, pop in the other one.

I looked into those but I will have other uses for the Milwaukee plus it has USB A & C if someone needs a charge

These are great but don’t we need one with a dimmer? Or is that a different thing to buy

I did have some issues with one of the LED tables. I noticed a chip/flea bite in the trim when unpacking. Probably would have kept it but then noticed some rusting on the cup holders, so I think I got a return that wasn’t inspected or something. No problems returning and a I ordered a replacement.

So I suggest at least opening and looking at your table, even if you don’t plan on using it right away.

Mine has a rip in the rail, where you'd expect one over time from sitting/movement on the hinge. Annoying. Not sure it's worth the effort to return though - 2nd fl apt, small car, not FedEx guy strong. Probably just patch it with something.

Thoughts?

Yeah that sucks. I wonder if that’s a sign to come for other tables. It does look like the vinyl is stretched pretty tight against the corners of each section.
If you decide to return it, there’s an option to have Fed Ex pick it up…so you don’t need to bring it to Walmart if you don’t want.

I can't see the size of the rip, but there are excellent vinyl repair kits for sale. This link has a step by step video.

If that's not your thing you can use gorilla tape.

I'm hoping I don't need to make repairs to mine

I just ordered one of the black ones. Don't care for the LED's. but I like the felt better on it, and it seems to have upgraded hardware.
Is the upgraded hardware different than the upgraded hardware on the LED version?

It looks like the tables also come with a 90 day warranty from the manufacturer as well. It may be another option.

Heads up, the vinyl is paper thin. I just took delivery of the LED one, and after removing the plastic cover, I set it on the floor standing up, with the flat, folded edge on the floor. In this position, the corners of the rail are the first contact with the floor.
I moved it slightly, on a berber carpet without lifting it entirely off the floor. Bad idea, rug burn:

It’s mostly hidden when the table is open, but this is a good argument for the table bag, even for storage.
