OK, I appreciate the insight. Which is why I asked the question in the first place. I guess if at any time it becomes too much of a PITA, I can just stop doing it and not renew. Now I'm curious how much the Feds are really all up in yer bidness...

And I don't know any shops that don't charge for FFL services. Talked to one that's right around the corner from my house, and they gave me the impression they didn't really like doing it unless I was buying from them. Why should they receive something for me that they could sell me themselves? (but for $300 more than I can find it online)

That's what got me thinking about starting the business. They said their charge to receive something was around $100. I have two or three guns I have my eye on for the next year. And know a lot of other gun owners. And with an FFL I'd have access to distributors rather than retail outlets for both firearms and ammunition. And I'm about to retire from my regular job, so a small additional income stream would be nice. And I can write off stuff on my taxes like a security system for my shop, and a nice gun safe. Just seems like a very reasonable possibility for a $200 fee and some paperwork. I'm a tax accountant. I've been doing paperwork and dealing with the IRS for over 40 years.

We have considered moving to Texas if NH turns any more commie like the surrounding states.
 
Quick question, I know a bit about guns...foreign ammo not so much. I have an AR10 which feeds on 308/51x39 ammo, there's a local ad for 300 runds plus 4 Ar 10 mags for $300... whihc is not bad at the moment. I see pics of the sealed can, it's written n english, but I know some ammo is corrosive - checking to see if I should stay away from certian ammo.

anyone know?

Malaysian ammo, Primers are made by Berdan, non-corrosive.

Should be a boat tail load, 145gr, 2700fps.

I’d say it’s a buy just for the bulk value.

Don’t you need to have a Brock and mortar store now?

The FFL I use has had his for a couple decades and is a heating air conditioning guy. He says it’s not really worth it but wants to keep it because he was grandfathered in. Granted this conversation was in 2019 so not sure what the situation is now.

It depends on the state, but not in Texas. There are more home-based ffls in Texas than in any other state.

I had a 2018 Wesson V Bob that I still kick myself over selling. Only good thing is I got rofr to buy it back from my buddy but I highly doubt he’ll ever come off of it.

Nice! I have the same pistol in the commander size 1911. My .45 ACP has crimson trace grips. A few years back I purchased a 9mm that matches my 1911 Pro Crimson Carry II

You might want to get an NDZ disassembly tool if this is your first Kimber 1911. Makes it so much easier!

So this may be a really dumb question, since this is only my second firearm purchase, but I need to get some more mags cuz 7 rounds is the biggest disadvantage to going to the range to shoot a 45. My 9mm holds 19 rounds. Can I use any 45acp 1911 mags, or will only certain ones fit in the Pro Carry II? Any specific recommendations?
 
Any 1911 should work… but they don’t all.

My only suggestion would be to upgrade springs, my kimber Aegis was so picky with ammo I sold it, before I learned upgrading springs might have corrected the issue- mine was a 9mm so maybe they are better with 45acp. It was a tack driver too, such a great shooter.

Digging through old pics, forgot I owned a Kimber 45 for about 3 days, part of a trade- sloppy as hell, shot well enough, but was so heavy it would only be practical to shoulder carry. I sold it 3 days after acquiring - I love the idea of a 1911… until I get it in my hands.

Funny, several years later I’m thinking I might start shoulder carrying- though now it will be my CZ SP01- 19 rounds… no argument there
