I have an Apache 3800 for my cash set and a 4800 for my tournament set. I have 800 chips in the 3800 with room for a couple decks of cards and dealer buttons.
Smaller volume. I have both styles of Versa chip cases: the 500-chip briefcase style and the 600 birdcage style. The 600's exterior dimensions are actually smaller. Space is a premium when traveling.
I was thinking about picking up one of these two cases for my cash set. We have several houses we play at, so it would be nice to have storage for transportation. Still, I don't see myself really taking my chips too much further than across town.
Would you recommend the 600 between the two? Are there advantages you find to the 500 over the 600 (aside from the weight of 100 chips).

They both serve different purposes for me so I don't have a preference for one over the other. I use the 600 versa birdcage for travel because I can bring racks, but unfortunately cards and buttons need to be stored separately. The 500 briefcase style versa case can include cards and buttons, but I can't bring racks.

Does the 600 chip birdcage hold the chips/racks tight enough that they can't spill out if tipped? Or do you need to be careful about keeping it upright?
The bottom 2 racks are a little tight, but once you push them to the side, they pop out fairly easily.

I have had all of mine in the classic birdcages and they do look great for displaying at home. And i have used them for transport, but I always worry about the bottom falling off so I just got my first apache 3800. I had a bunch of the briefcases that came with sets over the years, but never liked the look of them and most were cheap plastic inside.
If I can get the Apache to work for my 650 Samurai Palace chips, then I am going to look at some 4800s for my Nevada Jack big tourney set.
